That's gotta be photoshopped, BGDave.

/Burkie's tie is actually tied.

From the article in McGran's tweet:

The big Leafs flaw? They were a horrible "possession" team as measured by the fancy-stats community. The whole shots taken to shots allowed differential was going to come back to haunt them, went the logic. (The Leafs are "all in," as they say, in that logic.)

The Flames? In the regular season, the Flames (44.2 per cent) had a worst Corsi For percentage (which measures that shot differencital) than the Leafs (46.4).

(Speaking of Corsi For, which until this year had been a pretty good predictor of events, four of the top 11 Corsi For teams didn't make the playoffs. Of the seven that did, only two will survive to the second round: Chicago and the winner of Tampa-Detroit.)

What it should say is "Brian Burke (present) succeeds where Brian Burke (past) failed"

There is literally only one team whose general managers were worse over the past decade than him at his job. One team.

I guess the Flames are lucky that Brad Treliving is the general manager of the team, then

Still Burke calling the shots. Brad just executes his will.

Like I've said, Burke used the Leafs as a guinea pig and is doing right by the Flames. His Flames run has been fruitful. His Leafs run has left the taste of shit in the back of the team's throat since 2009 and only now is Shanahan finally funnelling Listerine into it.

LMAO. I know. Did you see when they cut to Burkie during Game 6? I think his tie was draped around his shoulders, his shirt was unbuttoned, and I think the top several buttons were undone. Not sure though, I threw up a little in my mouth and had to look away.

Burke had very little to do with what the Flames have become. He hasn't been their that long.
Yep. Like Dash said a few days ago, Feaster deserves a lot of credit. A lot of scorn, but a lot of credit.

Given the circumstances, there really wasn't any way Burke could've fucked up, even if he didn't trade Cammalleri when he should've, or signed Engelland (which is kind of a good thing right now anyway), or re-signed Matt Stajan, or signed Mason Raymond, or re-acquired Dion Phaneuf, or...

AS BBB has said several times, the next coach of the TML is really irrelevant. The Babcock's of the world would be wasted in TOR.

The team will be like an expansion baseball club (Remember Roy Hartsfield?). They should be looking for someone who can develop kids and be part of changing the Room. If Guy Boucher fits that criteria, good for him, If not, keep looking Shanny.

Boucher did do a good job of getting Stamkos and Hedman to where they are today, but the youngsters who've gotten them this far all came up after he was gone. That's a really small sample size to use to gauge whether or not he's successful at growing youth.
