Its not often I agree with anything written in the Toronto Star, but this one makes total sense

I was surprised to learn that after a single subpar season Kessel is "slouching through a steep decline". Do you think any of these mittenstringers remember that Ryan Getzlaf only scored 11 goals (57 points) in 82 games when he was Kessel's age?

If that is the case, they must be offering him beaucoup $$$. You'd have to pay me a fortune to leave Arizona in the winter for Toronto and not get a promotion.

Hard to over-estimate the value of a good goalie coach. For instance, Arturs Irbe was the only coach to survive the purge in Buffalo. Granted, the sample size is small, but Anders Lindback is a career .905 Sv% in the NHL, but posted a .924 playing for the worst team in hockey.

Hard to over-estimate the value of a good goalie coach. For instance, Arturs Irbe was the only coach to survive the purge in Buffalo. Granted, the sample size is small, but Anders Lindback is a career .905 Sv% in the NHL, but posted a .924 playing for the worst team in hockey.

I think Burke's worked wonders with goalies to a point (Mike Smith isn't exactly anything to chest-thump about these days), but most things I've been hearing lately have been about him moving to a HC/GM role. Not sure I'd want him as either right now.
