The guy who could really help that line is Ryan O'Reilly. He's exactly the type of player that would fit nicely in that Bozak spot. But it will never happen, and we'll keep being forced to watch the worst defensive line in the league. I always find it funny when someone complains about Kessel's defense... I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's easily the best defensive player on that line.

The 'Whoever' there would be Buffalo. Surprised there's only one player on there since they are last in the league in both shots for and against.

It would appear he's the worst.

I'm guessing the differences between the 3 are tight enough (especially considering that they are almost always together at even strength anyway) that they can't be used to draw clear conclusions. It's not like it's Gretzky doubling the rest of the league or anything.

So the numbers are only useful when they make your argument for you, and are "within the margin of error", so to speak, when they don't?

Do these numbers include shots against while on the PK? If so, that makes Kessel look even worse having the most shots faced while Bozak and Phaneuf are killing penalties and somehow still seeing fewer shots than him.

While Mirtle didn't say I was assuming the numbers were even strength. I'd be shocked if they aren't.

I mean, do you really think we can draw individual conclusions from line based numbers about three guys who almost always play together? If we're looking at a larger sample maybe, but a month? How much time dI'd they spend apart since December 1?

Not sure, but I do know there were a few games where Kessel was playing with Kadri. That might explain why Bozak is lower, not having to play with Kessel's non-defence-playing ass.:noidea:

Definitely makes that off season move to give him a contract extension look even stranger.

So, what's your favorite Randy Carlyle moment?

Mine would have to be "raised brain temperature from helmets".

Fuck playing two goons at once. Fuck scratching skill players because your system limits their options. Fuck safe over reward. Fuck Carlyle.

Gloves are coming off on Toronto twitter.

By Toronto twitter's account, the Leafs should magically become a great possession team now.

Carlyle is not a good coach, but it's not like he had a good team to coach in the first place. I question why Nonis is still there - to help Shanahan jettison players before the deadline before being fired in April? It's much tougher hiring GM's in-season than it is coaches.
