And use what to get one? This team is gonna lose a top scorer in two years one way or another, they need as many picks and prospect as they can get to fill the void. Trading a fourth straight first round pick for a rental just can’t be an option. Unless they can convince someone to buy high on Mikhayev and throw a second or some shit in this should be the team.

I wasn’t sure about re-signing Muzzin to begin with and his play this season combined with his age hasn’t helped that (nor has watching Durzi playing well with the Kings but I won’t go backwards). That’s a hole they’re stuck with if he can’t turn it around. That said, they look much worse when both their second pair guys are out injured and two rookies are playing that role instead.

Regarding what specific dmen they may target:
Chiarot, Severson (there could be a fit there), maybe Josh Manson, don't say it with conviction, they've kicked the tires in the past, Collin Miller, (Greyhound connection) Mark Giordano he has a NMC, local Toronto guy and someone who can give the Leafs depth on the blueline.

If any big name prospects are traded:
I'd be surprised if they moved Knies, he already looks like he was a strong pick in the 2nd round, I know teams like him, and from what I've heard it doesn't seem likely that he'd move. I think you could see one of the others go (Robertson/Amirov/Niemela).

I'm sorry but if you moved Kapanen to score a first round pick then wasted it on a guy you're trading for a bottom 4 defenceman on an expiring contract WHY NOT JUST TRADE KAPANEN FOR A FUCKING DEFENCEMAN YOU NEEDED TO BEGIN WITH?!
