I guess the idea is center depth but now Vegas can just claim him and won’t have to put him on waivers again to send him to the A.

Lyubushkin had better be good because otherwise giving up a second just to get rid of Nick Ritchie and grab some depth D doesn’t make any sense when 1) Ritchie’s buyout in July is insanely cheap and 2) the Leafs already have depth D.

I guess the follow up question is if they can package Holl or Dermott (or, if there’s a god, Muzzin) for a goal scorer.

At least it’s not Ben Chiarot, I guess.

He’s basically taking Ritchie’s late role as insurance. If the Leafs can get something good for Mikhayev and plug Dzingel in they should.
