I don't think it ever worked - mine's covered in tape because it snapped in two length-wise just below the strip about 10 years ago and they still let me in. I don't think most offices have a reader anyway, they just enter the number.

Everytime I go to the doctor the snooty receptionist threatens me with some sort of "they're gonna take it away! Hurry up and get the photo one" and yet anytime I go to a hospital or a specialist the receptionist there tells me I'm smart to keep it and "I still have mine too". My doctor's receptionist is clearly under the influence of Big Card!

Anyway, good luck taking mine away. I'll fight you.
