Someone mentioned Kaberle in a previous post but that is exactly the guy this team needs right now. We don't need any offense from him we just need a D that can carry the puck out and not turn it over. It seems like this whole stretch pass, tip in shit isn't working 90% of the time but we don't seem willing or able to adjust to it.

I swear to god the Leafs turn the puck over 15 times a period on purpose or just because they are terrible at the system. Really starting to wonder about Babcock. There is a lot of talent on this team and it's not really working right now. Maybe they peel off 12 in a row soon and we are all giddy again but this team seems to have some serious flaws.

I'm pissed but that might just be the Eagles loss still lingering.

Saw this the other day and was surprised. Tomas ranks 5th All time on the Leafs in career assists. Fifth. Behind Salming, Sundin, Sittler and Keon.

Not a recipe for success when the other team clogs the neutral zone. Which other teams have figured out and do. Combine this with a propensity to crack under a strong forecheck and this is where we are.

I am going to concentrate on the forwards the next few games. Not excusing the D, but want to pay more attention to what the forwards are and are not doing in their own zone. If they are floating around outside the blue line, they arent helping their D men move the puck out. No opinion, something to watch.

Kaberle was a great player who took a lot of shit.

He also could've just shot the fucking puck once in a while. That was something he was always terrified to do for some reason.

That was Hyman's 4th empty netter already this season (of 8 total) which made me wonder what the single season "record" is for empty net goals. I suspect that it's the type of thing that's not kept anywhere and someone would actually have had to comb through boxscores to find out.

If this article is still valid, the answer is Pavel Bure with 9 empty netters in the 1999-2000 season. Not sure if Grabner broke Bure's record.

However, six of Grabner’s 14 goals have been scored into an empty net. Grabner most recently boosted this total by capping his hat-trick against the Carolina Hurricanes with not one, but two empty net goals.

Pavel Bure set the current record during the 1999-00 season, with nine empty netters. With 53 games left remaining on the schedule, Grabner has a real shot at breaking that single season record.

Grabner looks like he only got one the rest of the way and ended up with 7. I may have missed one if it happened with 6 minutes left or something, I didn't bother checking every goal. At this pace Hyman would finish with 8 so he might have a chance.

The fact a guy who plays on a line with two of the most talented players in the game (and even after being moved lines this is still true) is on pace for 8 goals from open play is infuriating.

My favourite Leaf memes this year have been "GIF of Mitch Marner doing anything other than passing the puck to an open Zach Hyman".

Statement win by the Leafs tonight.

Ignoring the standings, the two teams are pretty evenly matched. Against each other in the games this year, it comes down to who gets the breaks, bounces, etc.

I swear to god if the Six Million Dollar Man puts Zach freakin Hyman on the first line again on Sunday I will lose my mind. I like Hyman, he's a good third or fourth liner. Maybe Babs can look at some of the best top lines in Hockey and try and emulate them. Maybe look at Bostons, they sure as shit don't have anything like a Hyman on their top line. Tonight it looked like Babs was desperately trying to find combinations that worked and all the players seemed confused with the exception of Marner. I'm starting to feel like Babs needs some help figuring this stuff out.

I am probably as guilty as anyone, but singling out one player for the recent slump is unfair. With very few exceptions, this has been a team effort up and down the lineup. Combo indifferent play for long stretches along with some scoring slumps and this is what you get.

Naturally, there will be lots of comparisons to BOS. But honestly,

Marchand > Any LW on the roster
Bergeron > Matthews
Pastrnak >>> Nylander

What surprises the heck out of me is: I will give you that the top line in BOS is perhaps the best in hockey. OK, but what about the other 40 minutes when they arent on the ice? On paper, the Leafs other 3 lines should be dominating the other 3 BOS lines. But it does not happen, and I have no idea why.
