I mean, I don't want him to but I really don't see any reason at this point for him holding out if the Leafs are offering what's been widely reported and, as I said, he has absolutely no leverage whatsoever.

On a fan level, yeah, I want him on the ice. From a management perspective, if he thinks he can win something here he's got a very strong reality check coming and I'm okay with that at this point. October is one thing but pushing up against the quarter-season mark on misguided principle is just dumb.

I'm still treating this like an "if" I guess, meaning I'm basically ignoring it.

Whether or not I personally see a good reason for Willy to hold out he obviously sees one and it doesn't change the way I feel about him or the situation.

Maybe I'm reading something that isn't there. I just thought there was a tone of "why can't Nylander be a good guy like Yannick Gourde?" in some of this.
