I should have added as well that Pierre is very good friends with Ray Shero (he said on the radio that he was at the hospital when Ray's kids were born etc.). Thus, Pierre is clearly upset about his good friend losing his job.

Just speculation based on what Pierre said, but he believes Shero's record with the Penguins (two Stanley Cup finals, three trips to the Eastern Conference finals) should have not resulted in him getting fired.

To be fair, mcguire admitted he was biased and that shero and he were friends

/he also said shero was in the room when pierres daughter was born ??? Wtf??? Lol

Shero's going to get another chance somewhere. Then he'll have a chance to show that he can build a contender without two of the top 5 forwards that were no brainer draft picks.

I heard Disco was getting sacked this morning - so I come back here now to see he didn't - all I can think of is a certain Bee Gees song.

Too bad for the Oilers, he'd make a great choice to replace Eakins in November after the Oilers start out 2-13-1 next season.

Ok Mario this is how it is gonna go

Blink twice if Disco Dan has your family

Lol.

I like that the second comment on the twitter page is "any truth to the Babcock rumors?" lmao. :L

(Per underline above - now I know why Canadians spell things differently, so they can look at questions like this and be able to say "hey, a Canadian didn't ask that dumb question")

In retrospect, I understand the move. I hope they move quickly on a new GM, though. Let him fire Bylsma as his first move, assuming that's what he wants, but giving him full control to build the team he wants to the way he wants to.

Personally, I solve everything not coaching related internally. Sign back a few of the guys, Goc, Sutter, Niskanen if the price is right, try to dump Scuderi onto some team at the cap floor for basically nothing in return, maybe a late draft pick, and fill up the rest of the roster with prospects to see what I have. If Niskanen's contract demands are reasonable, bring him back, too. Martin's contract is up after this year, anyway.

I bring in a tough system coach and give the team some structure.

The talent is already here, letting some of the young guys play gives a good young and old blend, fresh legs and experience, and if I can manage it, I get some cap room to play with if someone doesn't work out or an injury opens a hole.

Uggggh. That sounds like a nasty lower body injury. And here I thought that was just an expression.

I understand that speculation, but how many teams that are looking for a new GM AND a new coach can really be considered competitors?

Washington because they're in the same division - if the Caps make a couple of tweaks they might get back into the playoffs

Better than being in the room when she was conceived.

Dale Hunter is available, but you'd only be seeing Malkin for 7-8 minutes per game. ;)

I may have missed it skimming the thread, but Mario's statement today that the Penguins are a team that is lacking character is quite the indictment, in my opinion.
