I agree, I'd actually really appreciate Pierre as a scout/player development guy. I just don't think he'll do that as opposed to his current gig. Unless of course he foresees the need to improve his resume in an attempt to get a GM gig further down the road.

Agreed - he's too big of a name to be just a scout or a player dev guy - and he's probably getting paid very handsomely from NBC too

Pierre McGuire on NBC conf. call says he's talked to #Penguins and there is a long list of people interested in job. Pierre McGuire: "I’ve met with the Pittsburgh #Penguins. I’ve talked with the Pittsburgh Penguins. But so have a lot of other people. It’s a long list, an attractive job. There are a lot of people in the hockey world that would ..like to have that position. Ray Shero, the former GM, and his staff did an amazing job building up the infrastructure of talent on that team, and that’s why I think it’s a very appealing job for a lot of people.In terms of whether I’m a finalist, I can’t speak to that. I have no concept of that, except to tell you this: There are a lot of people that would like that job.


He can't shut his mouth. There's no way he's getting the job acting like this. Seems more like he's being asked to pump up the position.
