I understand I am not the coach of the Blue Jackets, and I have never coached above Bantam/High School. But I always tried to find a role where my players could succeed instead of trying to shoehorn every one of my players into a certain job on the ice. And I fully understand that is because I didn't have the luxury of trading. I got whoever was there and had to build my team plan on who I had.

I think Duclair looked fine early on, and he only started to struggle once criticized and asked to change his game. He's best when he is playing loose and fast.

Torts' inflexibility is the one thing that is worrying me about trade deadline day. The Jackets could sell the farm and get a great player who doesn't work out because Torts wants him to change his game too much.


And I think this is also part of why Wennberg has fallen apart.
