So, one thing I keep hearing is that he's a winner, a "proven" winner. I looked up his career record and as a coach overall his win pct is .483 (playoffs) and .538 (regular season).

A few coaches with a better record in the playoffs:
Mike Milbury
Ron Wilson
Paul Holmgren
Rick Bowness
Barry Melrose
Terry Crisp
Randy Carlyle
Don Cherry
Craig MacTavish

Bolded are better regular season too. Torts has two years to win 200 and equal Jacques Martin.

Sortable list:
NHL Coach Register | Hockey-Reference.com

I have to share this here because I am growing tired of being told to "learn about hockey" in other sites. The feebs over there might literally shit themselves if I posted this.

Ha! That's a trick. They are all the same person!

But, as I always do, I am praying to The Ryan. A-Miller.
My post, early in this thread, Oct 15, 2015.

In five years, he has used his wiles, cunning and experience to skyrocket those win percentages to .553 and .467 respectively.

PROVEN WINNER

Sheldon Keefe played 125 NHL games in his career, for one single coach. No prizes for guessing who lol

To me the top highlight of Koivu’s career was when Ohlund slashed him and broke his leg.

to be fair (reported), Koivu didn't stand in front of the net for quite some time after that.

So, at some point after 6:19 of the second period, Laine said something obnoxious to an assistant coach off the ice?

I swear, every media person here in town is a crackhead.

Torts and the team have done a pretty good job of keeping things that happen off ice quiet. But suddenly this year both the PLD mess and now this Laine verbally slapped down a coach (And if it was Larsen he deserved it) thing got out. So the question is what is different from years past (The Bob fit a few years back stayed pretty well out of the public)?

I blame Del Zotto.

And about the idea that Laine was benched because of something that happened off ice, assuming prior to the game, then why let him play half the game anyway? And why punish that so publicly anyway? Bring him into the office with Jarmo there. Dress him down and make it clear it isn't acceptable. Even if you never expect the altercation to be made public, it makes zero sense to punish in game for that. especially when everyone on earth is watching you and how you handle this kid.

Torts probably wanted to knock him down a few pegs (like he loves to do) and benched him for picking the wrong one of the three guys that were left uncovered. Then Torts said "other things" went into it in an attempt to deflect the blame from himself and someone pushed this altercation story because they are enjoying the drama. Status Quo.

Can't imagine why PLD wanted out.

Brian Hedger, the Portzline wanna be (TwatBagel?), asked if he deserved it and Laine said "yes". Then he asked if this would affect his longterm feeling about playing in Columbus and Laine said no.

Because he probably knows Torts is retiring.

Also, per 31 thoughts apparently Laine ignored or blew off a coach (again, if it was Larsen he deserved it) after the play - probably because he was angry at himself.

Twattart?

Anyway, here's what Tortolleni had to say today.

Sounds like Portzline he snapped at early on. Trying to find the unedited video to confirm.

IF I WANTED TO TELL YOU PORTZY I WOULD
