Kendall Fuller will be in that mix of college kids.

I went through the Josh Norman scenarios a few weeks back. Panthers have a lot of cap space next year. He's the only marquis FA they have. Not sure if other teams get the chance, unless his agent and him are planning on getting highest deal out there.

VaTech CB Kendall Fuller should be in that 20 area of first round, imo. maybe a little higher. depends on how well he has recovered from knee and how he looks at combine. Tape don't lie from his Frosh and Soph years.

KC CB Sean Smith will be a FA in 2016

Nice. He is a bit of a ball hawk too I believe.

Slay is a good cover corner but doesn't seem to pick off a lot of passes.

Can't they just franchise him possibly?

I'm cool with that pick as long as he runs fast at the combine. 4.5 doesn't cut it on the outside in the NFL. Game tape trumps all but ya never know if the knee sapped some of his overall speed.

I'll take good to great coverage by a DB/CB all day long. Int.'s are mostly happenstance. pbu/pd are just as important. may not give you the turnover and possession but still helps.

Tell that to Richard Sherman (4.55 combine) and Joe Hayden (4.65 combine). Shouldn't always go by combine 40's or even pro-day 40's. Josh Norman (4.6+ combine) who you spoke of. Great technique can overcome that track event speed, imo. Rarely do you see Sherman or Hayden or Norman get burned on anything outside 20. we've seen all CB's have bad plays or even a game but mostly the lockdown have fewer.

Here's hoping the coaching staff can develop him (if he's drafted).

Oh. Byard will be drafted and don't be shocked when it's before 3rd round is complete. just because he's from small school (C-USA) doesn't mean that kid won't project as well. I doubt he winds up being no worse than 3rd or 4th rated SS prior to draft.

They can tag him, sure, again though if he is wanting the best deal and stays healthy he may leave after the tag year. He's been in the mix as best cover guy since mid season. You don't let those guys walk, do you?

They have let a few guys walk over the years. I could see them doing it with a SB win.

Location, location, location... INTs come from various reasons. IMO the biggest is poorly thrown balls or batted balls not good coverage. Especially not in man press when a DB is playing off the receivers eyes and hands. (Which Slay is doing very well at times) They turn to late to adjust to the ball, but make breakups.

I do get the importance of needing more turnovers. Plus/minus shows with most winning teams.

Slay is developing nicely. He still has some bad plays. Starting to see more good to great than bad. I will still take that every game. He's still only in his 3rd year.

Here's hoping the coaching staff can develop him (if he's drafted). I think they did a really good job with Slay's development.

I would put some on him and some on the coaching. Austin has been around some really great DBs over his time. How much is him?

Mathis may have been a bum this year, I believe he also has been instrumental with Slay. Savvy vets don't forget how to play, just to get too old still play. I member a article about them working after practices on various things.

My visions of him dropping to the early second when the Lions were sitting in the top three draft spot have been crushed.

You can always pull a few exceptions out of anything. The vast majority run in the 4.4's or lower.

Good thing he had two good games to end his college career. Otherwise he never becomes the elite guy he is.
