Won't matter with the same ol' idiots making the picks.

ESPN research: Detroit Lions are worst drafters 'by a wide margin'

I was kinda thinking on looking for toys for a new GM. Season keeps going this way, I just can't justify how any GM survives it.

And yes, I realize it's Detroit Lions ownership I'm speaking of. Millen had to teach them something you would figure.

It's been six years and this is all Mayhew's roster except for CJ. This is the product he built. I care less they had two playoff appearances. They also are going to have four losing seasons.

I think the Lions are the only team in the NFL with zero players from their 2010 and 2011 drafts still playing for the team. Those are both Mayhew drafts.

You coulda had an armadillo in a top hat coaching this team and still gone to the playoffs with Suh and Prime Calvin on the same team for 5 seasons.

Howie, whether they're the only team or not, it still happened to Mayhew. Another good point you've made.

I've been overly impressed with tOSU DT Adolphus Washington. He consistently collapses the pocket from either 1, 2 or 3-tech. Mostly he has played 3-tech and will shade at times to a 2-tech from either side but he mauls and uses that Bull-rush extremely well. He has a lot of lower body power and can convert power to speed. Most impressive and consistent DT, imo, among him, Nkemdiche, Clark, Billings, Robinson, Reed.

I don't really see any DT's this year that are true sack/pass rush specialists but more inclined that all are very high quality run stuffers that can push the O-Line back

Run stuffers are a dime a dozen. Easily had in the 2-3rd or 4th round. Perfect example is NYG getting Jonathan Hankins from Ohio State in the 2nd round a couple years back. All the media was saying he is a first round lock.

wasn't implying that any of these DT's be the pick in top 10 should the Lions fall there. Nkemdiche is probably the only one who'd warrant such a high pick.

Malcom Brown was taken at #29 in the 1st rd and he was better at run stuffing in college than a pass rusher. so, is it because he was such a late 1st round pick it then becomes okay. seems you're kind of on both sides.

You can't always put off for certain positions. Each year the drafts are different in depth at every position. Some years you need to grab them while the grabbing is good.

He has 4 run stuffs in 2 1/2 seasons hes more a plug than a run stuffer. I agree with what you're saying though definately need a play maker.

Hard to bite on a DT in the first unless it's the late first. Only rare, sackmaster type DT's like Suh belong in the first 15 picks in the NFL draft. Seems like most DT's picked between 25-120 are all pretty similar. Caraun Reid was a 4th round and he is pretty solid even.

I'm gonna make you feel even better. Caraun Reid was a 5th round pick. You get the bonus value points because there's more value being pretty solid in a round later pick. lol

Hopefully he keeps working out with Suh this off-season.

So basically the year AFTER the Lions finally score a high comp pick?
Lions always getting the lucky calls from the NFL.

Be happy Mayhew is gone. As he would of traded the farm to move up to 97th pick.
