Coach Rankings Coaches | By The Numbers.

Ranks and sorts every Head Coaching Job based on CBTN’s proprietary formula to determine what are the most desirable jobs in college football. Formula takes into account: Conference, BCS National Championships, Conference Championships, Coach Salary, Average Recruiting Rank, Average Football Revenue, Players Drafted, Stadium Size, and Stadium Attendance (% of Capacity). The purpose of this ranking it to have a fair and accurate comparison of all of the FBS jobs compared equally against common factors that typically make jobs more desirable than others. All data is since 2001.

Interesting...

Of course you can't make a decisive list like this with accounting for tradition/historical value. Although that would bring opinion(bias) into the equation, ruining any chance at accuracy...

...but yeah, interesting.

along with adding tradition/historical value to the program/team you can also argue it doesn't put in there the outlook for the future for some of those programs that are low on the list.

A&M is 14th in Revenue? I thought that bigstarD guy said we were broke...

14th in revenue over the last decade......hmmm, maybe you aren't as smart as you think you are if you can't read

This also doesn't list your expenses from the rest of your AD, this is just football money

Formula takes into account:
Conference
BCS National Championships
Conference Championships
Coach Salary
Average Recruiting Rank
Average Football Revenue
Players Drafted
Stadium Size
Stadium Attendance (% of Capacity).

Interesting that the only catagory in their formula that doesn't have an exact value to it is the 'Conference'.

Before clicking on that link I already knew it has bias attached to it with the 'opinion' factor that everyone in conference "___" will get this number added to their formula because we say so.

What do you know, 5 SEC teams in the top 10.

Just look at that ridiculous list.

Every SEC team but one in the top 36? Give me a break. There you have it. The 'conference' number that has totally skewed the shit out of that list. Wonder why they won't tell us what numeric value 'conference' had on their formula.

For the ones complaining about the SEC dominating the top 10, just adjust the categories and you'll see it doesn't change much.

Job Rating: 5 SEC teams in top 10
Players Drafted: 4 SEC teams in top 10
Avg Revenue: 5 SEC teams in top 10
Coach Salary: 5 SEC teams in top 10

I don't think a coaching job being in the SEC carries as much weight as it may appear.

Sure it does. Obviously a formula that uses coaching salary will favor the conference with the highest paid coaches, in this case the SEC. So again, more biased results.

IMO though, the best job pays the most. If Arkansas State paid me $5 mill, I would coach. Hell I would take 202K they pay their current coach.
