Washington has two PAC conference titles in the past four years. Try again.
You have no idea how Lake will be as a head coach. Sometimes good coordinators make shitty head coaches.

See Bobby Williams

And? Bobby Williams was an assistant to one of the greatest head coaches college football has ever seen and still was a shitstorm of a head coach. Still doesn’t prove that Lake will actually be able to replicate Peterson.

Can't argue that.

CFB in the P5 is still cyclical, even if you don't think so.

1970-1979: We saw teams like michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Arizona State in the top 10 nationally in wins
1980-1989: Miami burst onto the scene, along with Clemson, Georgia, and UCLA in the top 10
1990-1999: Florida, Tennesse, and Texas A&M were all top 10 in wins out of nowhere
2000-2009: USC re-appeared, LSU arrived, and so did Virginia Tech, all top 10
2010-2019: This decade, Stanford, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Clemson all burst onto the scene and are top 10 in wins

There are teams like OSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma that are consistently at or near the top, but the rest have changed regularly from decade to decade. No dynasty is impervious to tumbling, either. I once thought USC and Texas were basically incapable of not being dominant, and that no recruit in their areas would think to go elsewhere. Now look. Whether it's sanctions, coaching turnover, or just down years, things can change and new teams can rise.
Good points. Not saying to toot the horn of our team, but OSU really the only team who never really had an extended down period that I can think of.

The HAVE and HAVE NOTS in college football keeps increasing. The playoffs in 6 years has featured only 2 PAC teams, 1 Big12 team w/ OU x5 years in a row, 2 B1G teams w/ OSU 3x, 2 ACC teams w/ Clemson 4x, and 3 SEC teams w/ Alabama 5x.

Acutally, Oklahoma has only made it 3 years in a row, and 4 times out of six years. And this is the 5th straight year for Clemson.

Dropping the G-5 teams won't increase participation, unless the G-5 gets its own playoffs. With their own playoffs, then they would probably lose their guaranteed access to the New Years Six bowl games & the money that goes along with it. And it also doesn't mean the other P-5 teams will suddenly get better a be able to challenge the current front-runners on a regular basis.

In the end, even Petersen couldn't replicate Petersen.
