Comeds
Unreliable Narrator.
Sounds like very similar management styles. If you did your job well, my old boss did everything he could to keep you right where you were. Including bad mouthing you to other managers.I had a power struggle with my bosses' boss at my last job because he had the mentality that if you offer employees training, they will eventually leave once they get better skills. Took me a while to convince him that people don't leave jobs, they leave bosses who don't recognize what they can and want to do. If someone is interested in the work, they will keep doing it. You make them do boring and unfulfilling shit, they leave. Money usually has little to do with it. And that it is far more expensive to hire someone from outside with the skills you need than it is to train someone from inside.
He was not too happy with me when I got legal to write it into our team charter that everyone on our team had to have valid and active certifications in forensics and the tools we use. He tried to go to executives to overrule legal. That didn't go well for him.
Similarly, I enjoyed the meeting where it was announced that he was "pursuing other opportunities"
It's amazing he got fired. It's sad it took so long.
A lot of my coworkers were either sad or pretended to be sad he was let go. Fuck that, my stock comment was "I wish him well but so glad he's gone".
