And I said there was nothing on earth that could make me move back to Maryland.

Although honestly, I'd probably head to the western lake coast in Michigan.
That's Trump country

Elmo And Randysmarmy want to bring in more people they can exploit with the threat of deportation or cancellation of their visas to work for peanuts.

MAGA, whose best ever job was doing drywall and getting paid under the table, wants to know why they aren't getting these engineering jobs.

At risk is the commie notion that you should give citizens the education they need to compete for the best jobs.

Twitter is ablaze and Elmo is deleting accounts and blue checks (Like Laura Loomer) who disagree or criticize him.

It's not even January.

Where is the shovel?

Edit: Read his thread. It was a complete coverup from the police.

Pretty great plan.

Get rid of the immigrants doing jobs Americans don't want to do. (More likely imprison a bunch in private prisons)

Bring in foreign skilled workers to do the jobs Americans do want to do but are not skilled enough or more likely want too much $ to do.

Abolish the department of education and have the right insist that schools teach religion, creationism, and white washed history thereby ensuring the next generation really is unqualified. Well except for the rich.

Keep healthcare costs high and tied to employment so many people have to take whatever job is offered at whatever salary.

Think there is a wealth disparity now, wait until 30 years from now. Oh well, "we" voted for it.

All of that is dead on, but I take issue with the notion that Elmo and Rammy have a "plan". And we know Trump has no plan.

Tech execs who fund the real brilliant tech builders and take credit LOVE getting H1B visa workers because they can treat them like garbage, demand long hours for low pay all with the threat of cancelling their visas if they don't comply. They want indentured servants. That's it. The rest is just convenient bonuses for the nazis that wrote Project 2025 .

@forty_three nailed it above, there's plenty of qualified and skilled Americans, but they're looking to be well compensated and when you can find a H-1B visa person who will do the same work for much less pay, well it's a pretty easy call.

And an easy way to break unions. Which is their goal.

And if there aren't enough people who are qualified there are tons who could be taught. I rode Y2K Panic into an IT job and progressed from there. Prior to starting, my "IT" experience was personally fixing my own PC and managing the PC Upgrade center in Best Buy along with the music department.

Over my career, I have hired Police officers, Security Guards, Money Laundering Investigators, Accountants and an HR person to do forensics and eDiscovery work. You can teach almost anyone, and they don't have to be tech nerds. The US just doesn't bother, and people who insist, we bankrupt them.

A lot of the best IT folks I work with are finance majors.

When I had to build a help desk, in haste for the y2k panic, the best folks to hire were people recently out of the military. None were afraid to deal with the issues, could talk to the customers in a way that was straightforward/respectable and all were quick learners.

Three years ago I got moved to a new job that I had absolutely no knowledge of. I really tried, and my coworker was patient and was glad for the help. Three years later I'm still learning but I think training me instead of a new hire worked out for everyone.

For half the time here I hated my job (mainly due to a boss who is no longer employed here*) so I interviewed for other jobs a decent amount. Some places don't want to train at all. A few interviewers flat out told me they wouldn't unless they had to. Odd part is they were paying way more to hire or poach people with experience.

*old boss was such a dick, what a magical day that was. I was off and got a call saying I should join a webex meeting that afternoon. Angry and wanting to know who called the meeting I looked up my department's shared calendars and they were all gone. I happily attended that meeting

I had a power struggle with my bosses' boss at my last job because he had the mentality that if you offer employees training, they will eventually leave once they get better skills. Took me a while to convince him that people don't leave jobs, they leave bosses who don't recognize what they can and want to do. If someone is interested in the work, they will keep doing it. You make them do boring and unfulfilling shit, they leave. Money usually has little to do with it. And that it is far more expensive to hire someone from outside with the skills you need than it is to train someone from inside.

He was not too happy with me when I got legal to write it into our team charter that everyone on our team had to have valid and active certifications in forensics and the tools we use. He tried to go to executives to overrule legal. That didn't go well for him.

Similarly, I enjoyed the meeting where it was announced that he was "pursuing other opportunities"
