With this lawsuit going on, there was no way the Texans could hire Flores or McCown (for very different reasons). They HAD to expand their coaching search. Lovie Smith isn't a bad choice at all, since he'll likely keep the defensive staff and rework the offensive side of the ball--gotta remember that a lot of assistant coaches in the league have been snapped up already. Not only does Lovie have good coaching qualifications and league connections, but he's also a minority. It can only help the team and league optics.

Hell, had Flores been a little more patient, he'd have probably been the Texans's hire.
