I always do make this dish on Christmas Eve for the following morning AFTER opening presents...it's a TRADITION and easy to make...

preheat oven to 350 degrees...

-8 1/2 X 11 glass baking dish...sprayed w/ Pam or buttered...

-grate enough pepper cheese and cheddar cheeses to taste

-cube enough white bread to fill your baking dish 2/3 the way full

-brown enough bite-size sausage links to taste

-use cinnamon, nutmeg, sage, rosemary and thyme spices (I like to heat my dish up with red pepper flakes) to taste

-mix up 7 whole eggs w/ a scosh of heavy cream or milk

-layer all your ingredients starting w/ bread, browned sausage, spices and cheeses till finish to top of glass baking dish

-pour the pre-mixed egg mixture over the top of the entire dish, THEN ADD the rest of your cheeses, salt-n-pepper and cover with tin foil

After the first round of present opening ceremonies, have Mom toss that that delicious sucka into the oven for 45 minutes and enjoy after your final presents have all been unwrapped...

Oooopsie...forgot to add one important detail to me recipe above...IMPORTANT!

The reason you make this dish the day before is to allow the egg mixture ample time to soak into the dry white bread, helps create a souffle' so to speak of...

Damn tainted puters and apple shine cause confusion here ya know.

Merry Christmas brethren!

oh p.s. if you use the brown and serve sausages you dont have to cook em first (cause they are already cooked) just cut em up and mix em in

I could "wow ya" with me duck dish, but why bother you when you would rather cruise the frozen food aisle instead.

just sayin .. helpful hint thats all.. merry Christmas

We used to use bread.... now it's wif hash browns. Sometimes we use ham instead of sausage.
