Anybody or am I the only one that likes this

When we have ham, I take the leftovers, slice some for sandwiches, but still leave plenty of ham on the bone.

That's what I use to make beans or split pea soup.

If I don't have one, then I get ham hocks. If I don't think they're big enough, then I usually get a ham steak and dice that up.

For the cornbread, it depends on who gets their way.

My wife prefers really sweet cornbread. So, if that's what I'm making, then I just use Famous Dave's Cornbread Mix. It's almost too sweet, but she loves it. I usually won't eat it with the beans, but I'll put butter and molasses on it and have it for dessert.

If I get my way, then I cook it from scratch and use one of my cast iron skillets. I haven't tried your method of flipping it part way through baking. Gonna have to try that.
