Oregon Is Faster
Well I will be the first to say that I thought Chip Kelly was indeed returning to coach the Oregon Ducks. It seemed like a perfect fit, a perfect time. Given the 49ers season, and the mess that Oregon had this year, it felt perfect that the creator of all this would come back and save the program. Maybe say something similar to when he turned down the Buccaneers job and said he had unfinished business at Oregon. When reporters were saying Chip's return to Eugene was a long shot because he doesn't quit, referring to his NFL career, I imagined Chip would say in his return that it is true, he doesn't quit and that is why he was coming back to Oregon. To finish what he started, what he built.
The excitement and hope grew as each passing hour, each passing day no coach was announced and rumors grew stronger that Chip was coming back. It seemed like too much of a coincidence that Oregon contingents were in Maine joining Kelly at his Father's funeral. It seemed like it was s storybook moment when reports came out that Helfrich called Chip prior to his firing asking him to come back to Oregon to retain much of the long tenured staff.
It felt like a great sports story that one day could be a motion picture. A perfect setting with the Willamette valley backdrop.
Instead, all for nothing. I sit here today internet searching Oregon games from 2009-2012. Cheerfully yet saddened at the great moments of Oregon football.
I love my Ducks. I created this thread to post some of the great moments of the Chip Kelly era. A place where other Duck fans on here can open the thread and enjoy some of the classic moments we shared as a fan base, witnessing the Ducks shred PAC-12 opponent after PAC-12 opponent.
Thank you Chip.
