I was saying a while back that Kelly was a good fit for San Francisco. You can't be mad at him for gutting this team since it came pre-gutted before he was on the market. Now he can slowly take guys he really wants without the media being all over it like we saw in Philly. I would bet Kaepernick is near the top of the list for guys who can run Chip's spread offense well. Overall, the move makes a lot of sense.

Kaep and Hyde are going to be pretty tough to figure out early on in that read option of Kelly's.

It is the only chance he has of success IMO. If he can recreate the success in the running game he had during his first season in the league. It is going to take a lot of luck to get there. That SF OL is a power style of running attack (especially if Davis comes back) that really doesn't fit Kelly's style. So he is going to have to do a lot of work in that area.

If Kelly tries to center his offense around the zone read Kaepernick is going to get murdered out there. The reason Seattle and the other teams with QB's capable of running aren't doing so very often is because they made it legal to cream the QB even if he hands it off at the mesh if they are in a zone look. That rule all but took that formation away. Seattle doesn't use it more than 3-4 times a game and quits if Wilson starts taking shots. Really can't run an offense around that as long as that rule is in place.

Niners are not going to fire Kelly after 1 year. Not only because Kelly will succeed in San Fran.

But the franchise just simply would not be able to afford firing another coach after another 1 year season. Kelly gets at least 3 years.

To be fair he accepted the job in Philly before the NCAA made its ruling,but yeah writing was on the wall.

I think he has a chance to have a decent record with Kraepernick. I still believe he put all his eggs into trading for Mariota this season and when that failed his season was pretty much done.
