They're gonna hire their next HC on Jon Fox's birthday. Surprise!

45 million 3 year deal, 19 million next season to hold a place????

I could have thought of 3-5 guys that would have been cheaper and have experience doing that. The fact they traded up 1 pick shows they are clueless.

And what happens next season when the QB prospects are supposed to be great, they draft Trubinsky's replacement?

This isn't accurate.
It is ostensibly a one-year deal worth 15 million. Ranking 22 for pay.

NFL contracts are never cut and dried like the media wants to pretend they are.

Mike knew what he was getting into. It's a one-year, prove it or fuck off deal, and he was probably told from jump street that they would be drafting a QB too.

It's not an enormous payday like everyone would like to believe. It ranks 22 among QBs. Seems about right to me?:noidea:

Good luck trying to sign free agents going forward, unless they are desperate or overpaid. It's a bad look that cost picks. And next year will be a bumper QB crop. Unless Trubinski really surprises it was a dumb decision.

The Bears are playing this perfectly. Trubisky gets to sit for at least a year. They saw what Rodgers turned into after sitting for a couple. If Glennon really plays well there will be teams that try to trade for him. And now the Bears have two chances at finding a QB.

While I kinda agree with what you said, the fact that a LIONS fan is saying someone is clueless isn't lost on me.

This. If Glennon plays well he'll be the starter and Mitch gets to learn the ropes. If not, well trial by fire I guess.

Why? Were the Bears dishonest somehow? Mike signed the contract? You know the one that spells out clearly that this is a trial deal, with an out for the Bears after a year if he sucks bawls.

Is Mike Glennon really in any position to warrant an unquestioned starting position? What has Mike accomplished to warrant a team signing him and calling it good at the position? Nothing.

People want to sensationalize this, like the Bears had it planned out weeks before, and that the draft is static. It's not. They probably didn't know they had a realistic shot at Trubisky until maybe an hour at most before drafting. If this hurts Mike's feelings, then he is not cut out for the NFL. Put you big boy pants on, and go to fucking work. You want an unchallenged starting role? Fucking EARN IT!
