Supposedly, there had been reminders with video examples sent to all refs (and teams?) this season about what constitutes "penalty-shot worthy" offenses on breakaways... and there were plenty of "stick taps" or similar shown.

So judging by that, definitely a legit call and sounded like a call they should make 10/10 times.

Now, of course that doesn't mean that refs will actually call it all the time, but I guess they're saying that they *should*.

the problem I have with the call is it is not consistent. Fact of the matter is if they're going to call that the wings are owed at least 2 penalty shots and the the truth is the official need to be consistent in the calls they making in the series. And he was side by side when contact was made.

I'll agree with you that the consistency aspect is maddening.

However, to say they were side by side is incorrect. Pause it at the 5 second mark.

Did I miss something? Doesn't Crawford have the second best goals against average in the playoffs? Crawford's been good enough when needed. If not for him, Hawks lose in five games. Howard gave up two juicy rebounds tonight resulting in Hawks goals. And I would be the LAST person to blame Howard for any loss in this series. Without his play, Hawks win in four straight.

stats are misleading.

crawford's rebound control during this entire series has been awful. anytime a goalie is fighting rebounds control issues, the opposing team has a shot to win the game.

When it's your team that loses because of it "in the same zone" qualifies as "side by side".

He was two steps behind at the closest point.
