They moved from the Coliseum to Anaheim because the team sucked and people stopped going. Every game was blacked out and they thought by downsizing the stadium and not having to sell 90k tickets they could pack the stadium again. It didn't work. They were already there when I was a little boy - weren't that popular in my opinion - they just wasn't that good of a team and were already losing. Anaheim is going to be dominated by L.A. Fans even though it's a different county
I agree to a point. I do think it's ok for the city to have some skin in the game if they can use the stadium to attract more events, and benefit from tourism. San Diego had $375 million on the table, and Dean walked away. So again, go fuck yourself Dean.
That was 100% spot on!Last year when the Rams moved it was celebrated in LA. They were there for nearly 50 years, and came home. This is how LA is reacting to the Chargers moving:
Chargers shouldn’t look for a welcome wagon in L.A.
They would need to renovate the stadium first. It's in bad shape.
Well that goes back to what I said before - Los Angeles fans will not support shitty teams year after year. The Clippers is the only shitty team that really worked. Even The Angels had a better product then the Rams, but I do think they will have a better chance in Inglewood then Los Angeles. They moved from the Coliseum to Anaheim because the team sucked and people stopped going. Every game was blacked out and they thought by downsizing the stadium and not having to sell 90k tickets they could pack the stadium again. It didn't work.
The Chargers was only there for one year - It's different for the Rams who was there for 50 years. That was 100% spot on!
Personally I think if they would agree to tear down the stadium and build a new one, even now the Chargers or the Raiders would agree to go or stay in San Diego, but I remember the stadium being flooded and under water back in the 1992 or so and that was 24 years ago. Quite frankly I am surprised the building hasn't been red tagged as a death trapSorry. I was being sarcastic....after first quarter, the pee and poo flows on the floor and down the ramps.
Yet, Raiders Fan shows up. Faithfully.
Given the resurgent Raiders play and popularity, expect the city to be burned down if they left.Qualcomm would welcome the Raiders....the plumbing certainly has proven to be acceptable to their Fans...
Apparently Dean has committed to pay the $550 million relocation fee over 10 years, but he couldn't pay that much for a San Diego stadium. I wonder how much Kroenke will charge him for his security deposit.StarBigD is 100% accurate. Pro sports teams are owned by bazillionaires, they should pay for their own damn stadia but they always find a way to foist it on to the tax payers under the guise of "Jobs" and "revenue"...or they will take the team elsewhere.
Some call this "Capitalism"

I predict the same fanbase, was a shame they could not get a new stadium deal done in SD though.

Spanos should have paid for himself.
The Spanos family, which owns the Chargers, is worth $2.4 billion

What's pathetic is Dean actually had to wrestle with this question:So far, they have been banished to the Stub Hub Center which holds a whooping 30,000.
I doubt they fill that thing, either....unless it is Raider Day.
Should have moved to OKC.... OKC Chargers with the OKC Thunder.
The Raiders fans is a strange bunch - I think they would sit in their own shit to see the games - lolSorry. I was being sarcastic....after first quarter, the pee and poo flows on the floor and down the ramps.
