It will be a long time before St. Louis or San Diego get another NFL team; if at all. However, St. Louis and San Diego will be used as bait for future teams to get stadiums built in own towns... "Don't want to build me a stadium, I'll move my team to San Diego." Should league ever expand again, I guess STL and SD will be considered for a club.

STL has already said fuck you to the NFL, but I do see San Diego becoming the new LA with regards to stadium threats.

However the Mission Valley site will change quickly. My guess is Qualcomm will soon be replaced by a 30k-40k seat stadium for SDSU and an MLS expansion team slated for 2020. If that happens it'll be tough to find a good site for a stadium here.
