You've got Dumbrowski now. I'd be careful about the stones you're casting.

Balls on a fanbase that gave a 31 year old David Price 7 years for Ace money, #3 starter production and another disastrous postseason start

And that was only Year One

Sure, lets poo poo a contract for a guy that will be a whopping 34 years old when the deal is complete

Only long termer so far for Dumbo has been Price. If you take the Scherzer contract the year before as reference, Price was going to get something in that ballpark from someone.

The look on Price's face when the Indians prolapsed him in the postseason was fucking Price-less!

5.54 postseason ERA. Unsightly!

I'll say this about DD. As an Indians fan, I was sad to see him take his incompetencies out of Detroit, but if he had to do it, I'm glad he took them to Boston.

I'm not a huge Dumbo fan. But comments like this are funny considering that prior to 2016 the Indians were routinely looking up the Tigers butts in the standings.

Yeah, comments like those are super funny if you lack the capacity for abstract thought.

I don't though, so I know that during his tenure in Detroit, Dombrowski significantly outspent all of his divisional rivals, during a time when the AL Central was an historically shitty division and yet he still would usually only win the division by a game or two.

If you're happy he's in Boston, it's cool. That makes two of us.

3 of us

You wont get an honest assessment from him.....

Everything the Red Sox do = "brilliant"

Everything everyone else does = "Stupid"

So Dumbo did well because he had the payroll to do it. But you're a big Cashman fan because Cashman has been able to keep the Yankees competitive based on his guile and guts alone, right?

I'm not a Cashman fan. Generally speaking, I think he's underrated, but I'm not a fan.

If you want to compare the two, I will say that in the decades that the Yankees have been under Cashman, they've never been in as shitty condition as Dombrowski left the Tigers in.

Also, it wasn't just payroll. It was a significant payroll advantage and lack of divisional competition. He doesn't have either of those in Boston.

1. If you think Cashman is underrated, you're a fan. He's perhaps one of the most overrated executives in all major sports. Inherited a world series champ and road it to victory. His only other championship came after an offseason where he doled out half a billion in FA contracts. Routinely gets bailed out of his bad decisions by blaming them on "ownership." Never really has had a budget to work under. Underrated. So funny.

2. Where do you see the Tigers in 2017? They finished 2016 in second place (after the World Series contenders), have the ROY pitcher and Cy Young runner up (and many would say winner). They've got Miggy who appears to be still rolling strong, JD Martinez, and Kinsler. I'd say they have a much better shot at finishing in first or second in the central than 3, 4, or 5. That in part will doubtlessly have to do with the Twins, Royals, and ChiSox being on the weak side next year, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Tigers take the division. If they are a disaster waiting to happen, I guess we'll have to wait for a few years.

This is 100% true.......To compare the 2 is simply ridiculous...Its become pretty well known the shape the Tigers are now in from the major to minor league levels.......

Complete opinion of a Yankee hater, with total dis-regard to the fact that he has more World and Division Titles, more postseason appearances, more Seasons of +.500 baseball, than any GM in the game today

There simply is not a better resume for an executive in baseball....That's a fact, everything you respond with to this post, will be your opinion

Missed the post season 3 of the last 4 years. I think that's a fact. The one post season they did make, they had as many post season wins as the Red Sox did this year. That's also a fact.

Cue the "but they finished about .500!" comment, like it holds some value.
