Missed the post season 3 of the last 4 years. I think that's a fact. The one post season they did make, they had as many post season wins as the Red Sox did this year. That's also a fact.

Cue the "but they finished about .500!" comment, like it holds some value.

Rebuilding the organization without ever bottoming out........Sold off his best 3 players, built one of the best systems in baseball, while still playing pennant race baseball into September......That's not an easy task

And the entire "Inherited a World Championship team" is so mis-guided its ridiculous.......How many back to backs have the Red Sox had? How many dynasties have they built?......The assumption that's its so easy to just repeat because you inherit parts of a team, is ridiculous.......The 98-2001 teams looking nothing like the 96 team...He orchestrated some huge transactions to keep that team on top, more than youll ever care to admit

1. If you think Cashman is underrated, you're a fan. He's perhaps one of the most overrated executives in all major sports. Inherited a world series champ and road it to victory. His only other championship came after an offseason where he doled out half a billion in FA contracts. Routinely gets bailed out of his bad decisions by blaming them on "ownership." Never really has had a budget to work under. Underrated. So funny.

Yeah, he's underrated because the mindless narrative on him is "sure, he's got tons of money, so he should do well - anyone could do that."

There've been plenty of GMs with deep pockets, none of them made the postseason in seventeen out of eighteen straight years.

There's also the point that he was in the Yankees FO as early as 1986 and was named the Asst GM in 1992. Personally, I wouldn't assume that he had nothing to do with that World Series Champ that he "inherited."

I'm surprised to hear this position from a Red Sox fan, though.

just kidding

So you're prepared to give Cherington full credit for the 2013 world series? Funny because within six months afterwards you were stating he should be fired.

So odd the ducking, weaving, and contortions you do.

If you find it funny when an Indians fan makes disparaging comments about Dombrowski because he had a nice four year run in Detroit, I assume that you find it fucking hysterical when a Red Sox fan makes disparaging comments about Cashman when he's owned the Red Sox for two plus decades, right?

Hell, even over the last ten years, the Yankees have won 5% more games than the Red Sox.

Did well when he was given open pocketbook under Georgie. George dies and the brothers take over and tighten the pursue strings and low and behold, the Yankees are struggling to get to the postseason. I wonder why.

@Cyder - just like old times on FN. Someone's got me defending the cock-sniffing Yankees.

Why do I waste my time?

Well, according to you I should point to payroll as the reason why (you know like you did with Dumbo). So shouldn't I follow your lead and blame payroll too?

Well here's the test. Did you think the decision to sign Arod to that extension was a good idea? What about CC's extension? Another good move by Cashman?

Well, the Red Sox finished in last place twice in the last 5 years with one of the games highest payrolls

So it would be pretty dumb to imply that payroll = winning baseball

Arod was signed by Hank Steinbrenner, you've been schooled on this a number of times, and not only by me

The fact that you keep leaning back on it, isn't helping your case

Take it up with Slinky because that's what he implied. I'd put the ball gag in his mouth first though.

That's fine with me, just admit that your boys have been the Yankees' bitch for decades.

No no no. I know that's YOUR and your delusional brethren's theory. I wanted to see if Slinky parroted back that tin foil hat story. If he did, I'd know he's a closet Yankee fan. You just ruined my litmus test.

Yeah, I've seen him be schooled on that myself.

He's a fucking parrot and I hate the Yankees, so I've lost the inclination to carry this on any further.

Yeah - they fucked us royally in 2004. Don't think I'll ever get over that. Then they screwed us in 2007. That hurt. Oh how can I forget the flogging we got in 2013. I'm bummed now.
