Well I’d rather have Young/Daniels do nothing at the deadline than pull another Kluber type deal as Daniels is very capable of.

this team isn’t going to get any better if it doesn’t make moves.

Gallo would see better pitches and strike out less and have less walks if he had better hitters around him. He would flourish on another team and he is the type of player the Rangers need.
You beat the Rangers by pitching around him

if we can extend him at a reasonable rate please do. But if we get nothing in a trade keep him. The floor is a comp pick.

If Leiter does the impossible and not sign with the Rangers then money won’t be the issue. He would just hate the Rangers. But every No 2 pick goes to a sorry team. I think he is milking every dollar

Story is 28 so by the time the Rangers are good he is over 30. Too many moving parts. Have to wait on free agency and Yanks now in play

Ok conversely re Gallo. He is absolutely no elite hitter. He is a slugger with Unicorn power and yes with better hitters around him his stats would jump dramatically but he will still strike out as sluggers did. I see him swing and miss at pitches near the middle of the zone. He will never be a Beltre type hitter. Unfortunately he is better than any other player in this team as of now.

We have not been rebuilding hitters in the majors minus maybe Garcia a the catcher position. Minors us a different story there They look to be a force collectively. We

need a few to become elite players up here that remains to be seen

I don’t blame him for wanting to go to the Red Sox over us, but probably 90-95% of the top 5 picks in history go to bad teams. I have no idea why the Red Sox were so bad last year and all of a sudden the best team in the AL this year.

Yeah...The Red Sox did want him and tried to fake us out.
Wonder minus the kid going back to college if he is our last unsigned pick

sorry but an extension at "a reasonable rate" ain't going to happen unless your definition of reasonable rate is in excess of 30M AAV and 7 years

The Reds and the Twins have signed their first round picks so maybe the dominoes are starting to fall.

Seems like he was projected first round. And ver high in the preseason projections
Last fall he was ranked high enough that I was hoping the Rangers would draft him. Then he went out and had an off season this year.

Edit: I looked back and as late as 1-31-21 there was a mock that had us taking Fabian.

That money seems a bit high but this is tricky. Not sure 5 years unless there are option is worth it. We sure are not competing next year. Maybe the year after.
Funny reasonable money is different for different clubs and locations

Money wise unfortunately makes more sense to trade him. Why do we want to get rid of best players..I like to keep to build a team. Lastly if you get good guys on goood contracts you can always trade them if needed

A lot of people seem to think Gallo is going to give the Rangers a home town deal, I’m not one of them.

I agree. If he does not hit because he does not see good pitches, why do we want to keep him?. I don't believe that because he did not hit 24 HR getting all bad pitches. He is not a elite hitter no matter what he sees. How many times have we all seen him strike out with pitches in the zone. He is no Beltre or M Young. If we want him as our RF ok but quit pretending he is something he is not.

I'd be shocked if Gallo got a 7/210 deal from anyone. But I also think Gallo would take a smaller deal from the Rangers than he could potentially get on the market.
