Had a What If segment on the Florida State vs Nebraska Orange bowl...It still broke my heart to watch that 45 yard FG straight down center of the field be missed...

BUT they did mention that in almost every single pre-season poll NEbraska is in the top 5....Is this true?? Are we going to be a Top 5 pre-season ranked team this year?? They had a 9 next to our name while they were talking about us, but as the season approaches will we be top 5?

I must admit, it was wierd to see us with a 9 next to our name..it has been a LONG time seeing that and also hearing Nebraska being talked about as a National title contender...It was a surreal feeling...Took me back to the summer before the 2001 season.

I haven't seen top 5, but top 10 is most common.

NU get the raw deal in that 94 matchup. A Fla St fumble into the endzone that NU recovered yet the refs called a TD for FSU. The ball was clearly jarred loose prior to him breaking the plane. The other was a block in the back penalty called against NU on a kick return for TD. The anouncers after both plays disagreed with the calls. It created the motto "Unfinished Business" and was the stepping stone to back-to-back titles. There are similar goings on in Lincoln today.

And I have my own what if... What if the ncaa had granted tommie his request for a medical redshirt in 95.. Would Nebraska have won in 96.... Would they still split with michigan in 97 with a first year starter....

- Bobby Bowden has to wait until 1999 before winning his first national championship

-Osborne wins his first title a year earlier
-Looking further down the road Nebraska has a much longer winning streak before losing to Arizona State.
-Nebraska wins 3 national championships in a row

Sadly, my hand writing is no better than that. I remember a 4th grade teacher made me write "I will improve my penmanship" 200 times. Once I got past 50 things really got ugly.

@ 5:32 Floyd fumbles into the endzone. The replays then clearly showed the ball out before breaking the plane. If I remember correctly NU was an 18 point dog in that game.


Similar to Pelini now, Charlie McBride had just revamped the defense 2 years prior because Nebraska was winning the Big 8 but losing their bowl games. It was previously built with big linebackers to stop the Big 8 rushing attacks. McBride changed it to compete with the speed of the Florida teams.

I'd forgotten about the Barron Miles hit out of bounds at 7:50 that put FSU into field goal range. The disappointment on Tommie Fraziers face after the Bentley field goal should leave no doubt as to how hard they worked going into the next season. The guy was a field general.

Didn't one of those refs actually quit after the game because of all of the talk?

I still remember the article in the paper 2 days later where they all apologized for literally stealing the game away from Nebraska. The fumble into the endzone, man that is a close one and it has been determined that he did fumble outside of the goal line, but I'm willing to let that one slide.

The phantom clip on the punt return was just like.........WTF?! How can you just make up a block in the back? I mean, someone actually has to push someone in the back.......just don't get that one. That seemed very rigged at that point to me.

I actually cried later that night after the field goal sailed wide left.......I was 8 years old of course. I waited until I got home and I went into my room and kicked my dresser

I cried immediately when it missed....I was about 5 or 6 at the time...Hell I cried after VT last year and now Im 22 years old...I would have cried after the Big12 title game, but I was more pissed off and in a rage then sad.
