Just curious what your thoughts are on this potential trade:

76ers offer Jahlil Okafor in exchange for the #3 pick in the 2016 draft.

Is that asset to much for the Celtics to give up for Okafor? Okafor was the 3rd pick last year.

Others may chime in as well. Just curious how other people see this, because I think it makes sense for both teams honestly.

No.

I see Okafor as an al jefferson type with less shot blocking ability.

That being said, the Celts are screwed either way.

This is another lost year. Maybe next year will be the year the lottery does anything for them.

Until then, time for irrational panicking and to blame that RICO violating felon Stern for Duncan.

That's what I was thinking Celts fan would say. I'm not particularly high on Okafor either. Honestly, I'd rather roll the dice on Embiid even not knowing if he'll ever be healthy.

What about Okafor and the Kings 1st round pick in 2018 which the Sixers have the rights too?

That dumpster fire could be interesting. Esp if the C's found a way to get Cousins (although this might end up a 3 team with Cousins to Boston anyway...)

I don't really like this draft. Honestly I think you could make a case this is the weakest draft since 2000 (outside of Simmons).

But I don't see how Okafor fits with this team really.

It's already lacking defense down low. This would hurt that even more.

I think I keep the pick if I'm Boston.

Those could be interesting.

I agree that the Sixers need to deal one of their frontcourt pieces, but absolutely not from the Celtics perspective. You have to hold on to that pick. They can make bigger things happen with that 3rd spot than Okafor.

Not sure that's true.

I'd rather trade down TBH. Get another 1st next year from another bad team. The difference from 3-7 is almost non-existent.

Yeah, I was just curious of the perspective from Celtics and other NBA fans. I do believe Okafor would be an upgrade over Sullinger/Olynyk, but is it enough for the #3 pick is the question?

You have a point.

I'm just thinking about them aiming for a package to get Cousins too. Idk. This is hard. Glad I'm not a GM.

Are you people crazy. Okafor is worth a lot more than the 3rd pick in this years draft. The guy is a double double machine, he is 19 years old, and will only get better with experience. Centers like that don't grow on trees.
I am sure Danny Ainge will call with an offer of 2 2nd rounders and a bag of balls, or some ridiculous offer.

I wouldn't if I were Boston but I am EXTREMELY high on Kris Dunn.

Where most people see the top tier as 2 players deep... I see it as 3.

He's a limited athlete. Poor defensively.

His upside is likely Jefferson-ish.

Which has value, but isn't ideal in this new age NBA.

Then you take him.

I don't see him as that. He's already 22, a turnover machine and his poor FT shooting makes me question his 3pt shooting number from this year.

I think Embiid, if he can stay healthy is a better overall player than Okafor, and the Sixers won't be able to play both of them at the same time, so one will be wasting away on the bench. I'd be thrilled if the Celtics gave us the #3 pick for Okafor. Then the Sixers can take Dunn/Murray with the #3 pick. We'll finally be able to see this roster come to form. We'd have a young core of: #1 Pick, #3 Pick, Saric, Embiid, Noel, Stauskas, 2016 Heat 1st round Pick, 2016 Thunder 1st round pick, plus hopefully a Lakers top 10 pick next year along with another top 5 pick, whether it's the Sixers or Kings pick via a swap.

You guys should just sign Conley now. Get your PG. This team has tried so hard to be bad that you don't see that it's ready to launch.

If there's ever a year to try and be a lot more competitive it's this upcoming year. With the Kings being an absolute dumpster fire right now, odds are they'll have another top 10 pick next year, along with possibly getting the Lakers pick next year, Philly could make the playoffs(not saying that will happen at all) and still get two top 10 picks or possibly even better. Honestly wouldn't mind a Teague for Okafor swap. We do badly need a PG.

Don't the Celtics already have a zillion guards?

Why add this guy to Smart, Thomas and Bradley?

That and it would be another guy of the same mold lol. Pretty versatile games but inconsistent jump shooting.

If Celts go guard it's gotta be Murray or Hield.
