Starting to get excited about the coming season: New coach, new day. After having a coach for 17 seasons, a change has come to Texas.

If you have thoughts or news about your teams for this coming season, here's a thread where you can post them...

Shaka Smart is already doing new stuff. Tonight, he's having a free practice game at Gregory Gym on campus. It's a very old gym, where the top five ranked women volleyball team currently plays and where the men's basketball team played for many years back in the old days before the Erwin Center was built.

I like the old gym, wish I could have gone tonight. But it's really for students and a few reporters. First 500 got shirts and food...

Here's a picture from a San Antonio reporter's vantage point.

Still kind of on the back burner to football, but I too am starting to get enthused about the CBB season. Could be entirely wrong, but I think Houston might have a pretty decent squad this year. Between the players returning from last year and Kelvin Sampson's new guys, I am much more optimistic than I was last year at this time, when our three best players had all transferred.

Cincinnati didn't lose anyone. They get their coach back and a few good recruits. It's gonna be a great season.

Can't wait for CBB season. It'll be interesting to see how the Gophers replace Hollins, Mathieu and Big Mo. Still think the Gophers are a year away, Gophers have a really good class coming in for 2016. I'll be happy if they compete for an NCAA bid this year.

Marquette is still a year away from being a real threat again(legit FF contender if god forbid Ellenson comes back) but they should be much improved this year and have a solid shot to make tourney if the young talent meshes.

Either way, I'm always pumped for college hoops and it will be great not having to watch a team that resembles an adaptive basketball league team.

The ACC is loaded and now you have a team trucking in prostitutes to get recruits. WTF? Who the hell can keep up with that shit?

AZ doesn't have the superstar player like in years' past. No Aaron Gordon or Stanley to take the ball and attack the rim on sheer talent, alone. No Nick Johnson or TJ to lead.

But we are as deep this year as I've ever seen. It'll be interesting to see if we can gel to bring the team ball to the point where it can overcome a lack of the talent we've had in previous years under Miller. We'll take our lumps early, regardless. But hopefully we can get a decent seed, and put it together in March. Miller is a solid coach in March, so I think he'll have us as ready as we'll be.

Always looking forward to CBB; especially when the Dodgers close the book on MLB season.

Feel awful for Ray Smith. Hope he can make a full recovery. He is a really talented kid. It'll be interesting to see what Miller does with that lineup. Zona won't have a true SF this year, like in years past. Zona is loaded at PG an SG though. My guess is Miller goes with:

PG: Jackson-Cartwright/Simon
SG: Allen
SG: Trier
PF: Anderson
C: Zeus

with York, Simon/Jackson-Cartwright, Pitts and Tollefsen first off the bench. I guess he could conceivably play Anderson as SF, but that would really hurt defensively.

Miller has been known for defensive teams the last couple years, I think this team will rely more on offense to win games.

:2cents:

And they want us to believe the Yum Center is named after KFC.
