They are largely dependent on opportunity, but a hitter still has to seize that opportunity.

It's why Brandon Phillips has had a good year, regardless of his other numbers.

Guy has come up huge in a lot of money spots this year.

yah gotta wonder how long he can hit .405 w/RISP though...that can't be sustainable..but the guy's been absolute money with his chances...no denying that....

90 runs created this year...

The logic holds true...as always...

He won't, but at the same time Votto is hitting .320 something with RISP and only has 39 RBI.

You'd think that would have to change too.

21 BB's in 94 PA's...they're avoiding him like the plague...understandably so...compare his bases empty split vs. men on and RISP? And you can see that opposing teams are content to just put him on 1st 4 times a game if need be...

Sure. I'd take him batting 299 all season

He's not or ever will be an RBi guy

no, but he was also a good leadoff hitter who stole bases

hes literally a shell of himself, even with what hes doing this week

Exactly right dude. It's not a mere coincidence that some of the best hitters in the game are the ones producing 100+ RBI seasons. If the anti-RBI fans were right, guys like Brian Dozier would be "backing in" to 100 RBI seasons, because he was lucky enough to have guys on base a lot in front of him

How many games, almost every game? Are determined because of "runners left in scoring position"

It's a real simple formula to me. Guys that are the great ones are knOcking those guys in, the bad ones are not

Maybe...Phillips only has 3 more plate appearance with RISP than Votto...

Votto has drawn 10 more Walks though..Not gonna drive in as many runners by walking... Phillips has like 5 more Sac Flies...

Oh, and last night was a prime example of why NL teams are at a distinct disadvantage playing in AL parks...

The Reds DH last night? Chris fucking Heisey.

NL teams simply can't afford to roster a one dimensional player who can't play the field.

I want to hear your reasons and see if we match up. I feel the same way.

Throughout most of his career ..... the other New York fanchises sucked, and he was the only sports figure the city could promote.

The Giants didn't become relative till recently, the Jets .... are the Jets, and when was the last time the Knicks or Rangers actually won a title?

Seriously, if it wasn't for Boston .... that coastal stretch of the Atlantic would be a championship free zone, filled with anti-soda politicians and sissies who are affraid of guns

Has to be more than that...

The team just played game #79...and he now has 45 RBI...he's on pace for 92-93...103 runs (papi really needs to stop hitting to so many DP's behind him)....
