Cowboys CB Brandon Carr will undergo surgery Monday after suffering a broken bone in his right hand.

Carr should be considered week to week. It's similar to the injury DeMarco Murray played through last year. Rookie Byron Jones will take on a bigger role at outside corner with Carr sidelined.

Don't want to see anyone get hurt and Carr probably needs the practice time after last year, but this should give us a better chance to evaluate the other guys. Mo, Jones, White and Patmon should all get a little more time against better players in both practice and preseason.

Damn, and so far I've heard Carr has looked good in camp. Maybe he can still practice route coverage just don't try to catch any balls or put that hand on a reciever.

With the exception of Romo and Witten, this is a really young team. It always seems younger teams stay healthier, keeping my fingers crossed for this season

Luckily he plays a position where, for the most part, he can still get reps in practice and stay in game shape. Just limit the contact, don't jam guys at the line or go for the defelections/interceptions. He can still run, he can still cover etc. Obviously it's not ideal but hopefully when he is closer to 100% he'll be ready to get right into the games.
