I believe it's a blind bid.

Only teams under the cap can participate and the highest bid wins.

If I remember correctly, that's how the Clippers got Billups.

The bid a shade over 2 mil and the other teams only bid 1.5.

The Knicks were responsible for the other 10mil of his salary.

So, how long before he signs with Miami, OKC or San Antonio?

He'd be money for my Clips or the Rockets.

He won't last that long at the cheap price he'll fetch.

I'd bring him to the Lakers for a season or two to help mentor Randle. He can still post 15 and 8.

It's definitely a blind bid. Thats how Phoenix ended up with Luis Scola in 2012/13.

How poetic would it be if he got claimed by the Cavs:laugh3:?

I would not want him to mentor Randle if I were you. Dude fell in love with this fall away rainbow jumper. Randle wants to wreck backboards, better he stay that way.

Boozer doesn't have much left. Gibson took over for him this year.

Melo going to the Lakers makes no sense. Not much there and its in the West. He won't be able to win there.
I agree, but maybe he's just going there for the money.

Bulls and Houston can offer the same.

Not without giving up at least some of what makes them attractive. With the Lakers, he can be teamed with Kobe and Pau (I think Pau re-signs if 'Melo joins).

They also have some pretty good young FA's that they can re-sign. As bad as the Lakers were last year with all of the injuries, they actually had one of the better benches in the league. Some young guys got some very valuable minutes.

I don't know if it's enough to get the Lakers out of the west, but it would be enough to get them in the conversation.

Playing with a 35 year old Kobe and a 33 year old Pau doesn't sound exciting.

How exciting did a 38 year old Tim Duncan, a 36 year old Manu Ginobili and a 32 year old Tony Parker sound before the season started? A Lakers "big 3" of Kobe, 'Melo and Pau would be younger than the Spurs big 3.

It really depends on Kobe. He says he's 100%, of course he'd say that even if he had the leg amputated. If he is at least close to what he was before the Achilles, then it could be a very formidable lineup, especially if they have a solid bench to limit some of his minutes (ala the Spurs).

Pau can be penciled in for 17 and 9 pretty much every night.

Plus, it would be 2 years and then when Kobe and Pau retire, you re-tool around Anthony and hopefully some of the younger FA's that re-signed this year from last years team.

Melo and Kobe playing together would be a train wreck. I can't see that working.

Melo would do well with LeBron because LeBron can create shots for him. I can't see Melo and Kobe doing anything but taking turns unless Kobe decided to be a creator.
