Puckett is better than Beltran and he's an established World Champion player (twice) that spent his whole career with one team. The guy could hit anything.

Beltran is a mercenary that held on forever and finally got his ring through shady methods. Seriously, which one of the 7 teams that he played for should have their logo on his hat?

The only thing Beltran has on Puckett was power and longevity.
That's interesting how being on the same team for your whole career is a plus in hall of fame voting but it is definitely true.
You get to know the writers better so they are more likely to vote for you.
Writers from rival teams in the division get to see you more
You get on more all star teams by building a following with a group of fans.
And in a case like Puckett's he can say he was part of a core that won the World Series twice.

Another interesting thing is how the Angels love to have hall of famers on their team but almost never while they are in their prime. I'm really having trouble thinking of any (besides future Trout). But guys that made the hall playing for other teams then came to the Angels later? Where do I start? Winfield, Pujols, Jackson, Carew...oops, they did get Prime Nolan Ryan. Don Sutton, Blyleven, Lee Smith......

They also seem to have a lot of these guys on the fringe that get Hall of Fame votes but don't get in, like Dave Parker

Oh yeah, also Eddie Murray
