They have owners and a FO that cares about winning, and look at what they've developed from a bunch of low-medium range draft picks over the past half decade. They are true pros, and fans can believe the organization cares about articulating a good team that can contend for years.

They really created their team the right way....equal amounts of excellent FA signings, farm building, and trades.

The pitching is just ridiculous. lol.

I'm partial to the Cards over the Dodgers.

I don't even dislike the Dodgers. But Pig is punk.

Shaw was touting the Cardinals on ESPN boards as a most stellarly run world class organization since 2009, you could have figured this out 4 years ago lol.

so what is being said here is that if you have a solid farm as a base all you have to do is make a few free agent signings and a trade here and there and your good. Well thats good we have the most important part already handled :suds:

thank goodness sheila hasn't invaded this place with their stink

even though it was right in this case

the cards have a competent fo that put together a great team built on a foundation of medium-low draft picks. thoughtful articulation and acumen all around with a real long-term plan created to yield a contending team.

none of the same things can be said of z and the pathetic m's front office.

U gotta admire the way the St Louis Cardinals build their teams. Model franchise that builds from within and not from buying their team.

Instead of giving Pujols a ridiculous contract, they
A) signed Carlos Beltran for less then half the price and he's been solid
B) filled the 1st base position from within with Allen Craig, who lead the N.L. in hitting with RISP, wait he got hurt, no problem we have this other home grown guy Matt Adams with tremendous power who can fill in
C) how about the compensatory pick they got for Pujols last year. Used it on some guy named Michael Wacha who has been unhittable, especially in the playoffs

Talk about a franchise the gets it, man what difference a decent front office can make

.482 BABIP with RISP, .416 with men on base.

Not very sustainable.

Awesome team and built to last.

It was a pleasure watching them, even though they didn't win the the whole BOW.

I have said this a thousand times before and the Cardinals just prove my point; All teams draft so when a losing organization like the Mariners try to con you by saying you build through the draft as an excuse to why they don't spend on free agents you can tune it out. Cardinals draft lower than us with every pick and still have a way better homegrown talent base. And the point about getting Wacha with Pujols leaving leads to my other point of signing free agents, I know Pujols wasn't a Cardinal free agent. Free agent s are usually high quality players so when you sign them you get them for 4 or 5 productive years and when they walk you have a chance at a Wacha type player. That is a double win. Morales will give us that same chance, again I know he wasn't a Mariner free agent signing, but we got a productive year of him with potentially adding a Wacha type player in return if he leaves.

Winning teams trade/sign free agents/draft.
