Also got Joel Ward for 3 mill and got a great deal from Colorado for Varlamov.

homer deserves to be non-fatally shot right now. vokoun is the better goalie, and he's got the best cap hit of any legit starting goalie in the league.

This ha been a problem we as fans have long since wanted looked at and now we can't be mad that they did even if another goalie signed for less someplace else. I'm sure that they looked at Vokoun and for whatever reason as an organization decided to go with Bryz. I for one at leat am willing to give it a full season to see how this plays out.

why wouldn't he have signed for that with us? maybe a little more if he thought the caps were the better team.. goalies get a lot less on the market than homer thinks.. that's two years in a row.. 5.667 when a comparable guy got 1.5.. and last year leighton got 1.5 while ellis and mason (better goalies) got 900k

he does not have his finger on the pulse of the market. at all.

I am just saddened. That is all. I am SO happy w ehave a really goalie in Bryz and like our team now, but I cant believe Vokoun signed for so little...with the Caps.

The Caps made out for next year with this deal, but it won't help them beyond that. It's a one and done scenario and then Vokoun will want to get paid by someone. We have stability in net now for years to come with a guy who is a few years younger and has a little bit more playoff experience to say the least.

WHo could have guessed that deal? ANyway, if the Flyers thought they could get VOkoun at that price, then they would have been bidding against the Caps for him. THen who knows what happens. Maybe he still signs with the Caps for whatever reason, and we end up with Boucher again... Homer was proactive, targeted the best younger goalie available, and made sure we got him.

Okay, you know when you buy a computer, or a car...and you get home and you see what you just bought for a lot less....GET OVER IT.

The Flyers went out and did what everyone wanted them to do. They got the player who was arguably the best at his position in this years free agent class. Vokoun being a close second. They traded for his rights and locked him up so that there would be no discussion as to who the number one was. Washington got a bargain, but they could also be looking at a lot of trouble.

The trade with Colorado, which was a steal for Washington, was a great move, but they still have two young goalies who are capable of beating out Vokoun for the regular season. In some ways it could be great, in others it could explode in their faces. Either way...no one saw Theodore signing at 1.5 for one year. That could be as much because he was not grabbed up fast as anything...that, and if he plays well he will again be a UFA next season.

Everything I read is thata Varlamov wants to go to the KHL. If this is the case, the Avs are dark, dark, dark toast.

Carazy thing is that the still have 2 very highly rated kids in Nurvurth and Holtby(sp). At one point in time I was hoping we would work a deal for 1 of those 3.
