Yeah they would. You'd just have to find the right one's. Most of those New England FCS schools are an easy touch.
We are pretty damn bad right now.

Yes, but I like the new shade of Orange you're using on your
uniforms. That looks good.

Do you remember Montana's old uniforms? I loved those.

That yellow gold, plain helmet.

Copper jersey

Silver pants.

Their school colors which represented the State's 3 Natural resources,
Gold, Copper and Silver.

complain as y'all might. but here's another thought. the kids that only get on the field in blowouts, they deserve that chance also. we already have a pro league, we dont need another one. let the vast majority of these players that will never be on a pro team, have their 15 minutes.

Playing down in Divisions. With a 3rd division, they would
maintain their present rules allowing a game vs a mid-major
Div 1 team and then allowing one game vs a Div 1 FCS team.

You'd have 3 Divisions of Div 1. FBS P5, FBS Mid-Major and FCS.
They are all Div 1 in all sports.

If you are looking to rid schedules of weak opponents...you'd
certainly want to limit teams like UNCC and Old Dominion from
the schedule. There are probably 20 teams in FBS that are not
the caliber of all the teams in the MVC (FCS).

The only other way would be to allow the NCAA to make your schedules.

They would be making another division to change the rules...they wouldn't be playing by the rules as before.

We needed a break. We had/have

UT then

Youngstown then

NC State then

The Big12 slate.

Heck Im clamoring for a bye or another FCS tomato can in November like the SEC does it, the players need it imo.

I don't think they would do that.

They still need all those other teams for the other sports.

They are already Div 1. What number is higher?

If they created a Division A...then only 65 teams are gonna
be allowed to compete in the other sports against each other.

Currently we have two levels of football in Div 1. FBS and FCS.
If you give the midmajors their own level, you would have 3
levels of Div 1 in football, and all the teams in the other sports.

If you create another Division...nobody else can compete against
you in the other sports. The lower schools would vote tht down.

The only way to avoid that is to leave the NCAA and I doubt you could find 50 schools willing to do that.

The amount of revenue the P5 schools could take away from the small schools by cutting off their NCAABB money would be an incentive for the FCS teams to play ball.

That may not be 100% correct.

Kentucky and Indiana would not move their teams out of the
NCAA for football, and be denied the NCAA tournament. Those
are basketball schools.

Plus 50 schools in just 1 division would mean a reduction in teams
from 68, probably down to 16. There is nothing there to generate
the income that schools get from basketball now.

Whether you call it the NCAA tournament, or something else...Kentucky Indiana would get paid plenty by whatever P5 tournament that they create in a different division. Everyone would prefer to keep the status quo for Basketball, but the P5 schools could use this as leverage to get what they want overall.

That's very possible. The downfall would be, not having enough
total teams available to play to control costs. The best example
being baseball and women's sports, which make zero money
but have identical costs as the sports that do make money.

Some schools, obviously, would be affected more than others.

The University of Miami is in a position that they have to put
the majority of their teams on airplanes to attend any game
or match. So their bottom line doesn't get affected all that
much. However, in North Carolina...those folks in baseball
and in basketball can have schedules where they bus to half
of their games. If that wasn't available their bottom lines
would take a large hit. We have the Big 4 in North Carolina,
but then the state also has...Appy St, UNC-Greensboro,
UNC-Wilmington, UNCC, UNC-Asheville, East Carolina,
NC A&T, NC Central, Winston-Salem St, Fayetteville.
That's a lot of bus trips that would have to be filled with
airplanes. Now most of the schools travel to the Big4
but the guarantee money to play NC A&T in a midweek
baseball game is not near the cost of a guarantee to
face Illinois in a mid-week game.

I don't believe any of them want to take on added costs,
because the bulk of money is in TV and that market changes
weekly.

This.

I hate FCS games as much as the next guy, but hating those games is a fan thing. Players don’t mind, because they all get to play, coaches get to try new shit in a real game setting, FCS programs get to balance their budget. The only people who really lose, unless you’re Michigan and shit the bed when you play these games, are the fans.
