He opened it up in the second half I'll give him that... But DAM, let Russ get flowing more within this offense, AND FOR GOD SAKE, get Jimmy more involved... You have this dangerous weapon on offense and your not using him at all ..

Bevell's continuing inability to figure out how to use Jimmy Graham after 8 quarters is concerning.

It shouldn't be that difficult. The way the Saints used him was that if he's on one-on-one coverage... he's open. This is the reason why we double coverage him when he played against us. It shouldn't be that difficult but apparently for Bevell it is.

They have to take the wraps off Wilson. What's the difference between Graham in Seattle and Graham in NO?

The QB, and the trust the coaching staff has in him.

I think it's pretty obvious that sticking with him this year was a huge fucking mistake. They had the perfect opportunity to move forward but for whatever reason PC wanted to stick with him. He needs a guy that knows what the fuck he's doing and also has the balls to stand up to him, like he always had at USC.

Through 2 games, Russell has nearly as many completions this year as he had attempts any of his other seasons. This is actually the highest total of pass attempts he's ever had in back to back games (he's only attempted 30 passes back to back 3 times in 3 years). At the pace he's at right now, he'll have 100 more pass attempts this season than he's ever had.

The team has put the offense in Russell's hands. 71% of all offensive plays these first 2 games have been directly in Russell's hands (pass attempts + sacks + rushing attempts). Last year, that number was just 60%.

Russell had the ball in his hands in the fourth quarter with opportunities to extend the one point lead and to attempt to tie the game and he threw the game away (over throw on an open deep receiver and the horrible pick on the screen).

Point taken, I should have been more accurate. I think they need to move away from the 'script' and open things up earlier in games.

Not just bubble screens on 2nd down and long in the first quarter. Get some offensive rhythm earlier in games, and the run game will heal itself.

Hard to know how well he'll play coming off IR, but we really need Richardson to stretch the field.

We finally saw some intermediate throws from Russ, where he stepped into the throws, which was a positive sign, but when is the last time we saw a home-run attempt?

I guess the Baldwin throw last night somewhat qualifies?

One of bevells biggest problems is using the wrong players in the wrong situations, ie throwing deep to baldwin. Too short, too slow. Put lockett out there and he probably scores a td on that play.

That's what I was screaming. Baldwin got no separation. Someone gives Lockett a free run at it then it's just a matter of whether or not he catches the ball.

Possibly, but not because Baldwin wasn't open - Wilson just missed him.

Dont get me wrong i like baldwin but he has no business running that route. He should be doing hooks and finding soft spots in the zone, not going deep. Thats how he lead our team in catches his rookie year. Under a different oc btw.

That wasn't Bevell's fault, Baldwin was open.

Can't disagree more. How many deep completions has Baldwin caught over the years on plays just like that one? Lots. That's the beauty of a guy like him. You can't assume he's not going to go deep on you, because he will. If you start jumping routes short as a DB, he's going to beat you over the top.

Now if you want to argue that we've never had a true #1 WR during Wilson's tenure, then that's a different discussion. Hell, even if Lockett turns out to be a stud, he isn't going to be a true #1, he's too small.

Baldwin did not run the route, he was too slow to get to the ball. The qb needs to be able to put a little extra on it and you need faster or taller wrs that can go and get it. Baldwin just isnt that guy, that is not his skillset.

Most deep passes he has caught were the result of broken plays and wilson buying time, not routes as called.

While it's true that we have failed the past 2 games while RW was more or less the pitcher of record, he was also the primary reason (on offense) we came back to take the lead in STL and also in GB. Especially in GB. It's not like Lynch ran over everyone and the D was stifling only to see RW screw it up in the end. Russell has EASILY been our best offensive player so far. Lynch has been a non-factor.
