ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Lions informed coaching candidates during their 2014 search of "concerns doctors had for [Calvin] Johnson's longevity and the condition of his ankles."

This means the Lions have known any season could be Johnson's last for at least the last two years, and yet they still failed to adequately address the position in the last two drafts, which were two of the best receiver classes in recent memory. Dealing with real health concerns, all indications are Johnson is serious about retirement. He just turned 30 in September.

Why the hell didn't they tag Suh???!!!!??

Kind of an interesting conundrum, They could have used more WR's, but because of Mayhew connection to Millen we would have all been upset if he used an early round pick on a WR.

Plus Ebron was the right pick. Aaron Donald and Odell are flashes in the pan! Ebron is about to come alive!!!!!!!!!

This is what really grades my cheese now. They knew CJ had 1 or 2 years left tops and their only other good WR was Tate. It was bad enough to pass on Donald when Suh left, these 2 combined leaves me with no remorse for Mayhew at all.

Hopefully this offseason resembles that of an organization that has its crap together

The more I learn about Mayhew, and all the dumb decisions he made, the more I hate his guts.

"Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports Calvin Johnson "has no money concerns" and isn't attempting to lure a raise out of the Lions with his retirement plans.

Per Robinson, Megatron's camp "took exception" at the Combine to the notion that Johnson was threatening to retire in an attempt to get more money. Robinson reports it's "expected to be several more weeks" before Johnson makes a formal announcement about his plans. The Lions have to be hoping Megatron makes a decision soon so they can plan their offseason accordingly. For now, the Lions should be planning as if Johnson won't play."

:L Maybe they don't realize Mayhew is gone the notion that any GM would be stupid enough to give a WR that is making 24 million a raise  (2nd highest WR cap hit in the league is Julio 15.9 million)

CJ's camp took exception ? this garbage is absolutely laughable.

and screw CJ if he doesn't retire before the March 9th New League Year. Cut his ass. No sense in hoping to recoup any of his bonus money regarding the retire route. Also, should he retire the Lions still hold his rights should he decide to come back.
