in what was primarily his age 19 season doncic went for 21, 7 and 6 and was just amazing, esp. after hte first couple months, on a bad Mavs team.

Klay will miss the vast majority of next season and likely will not be 100% until the following season. By that team, 2 seasons from now, Doncic will have almost without a doubt surpassed him. Esp. when considering Klay's reduced athleticism as a result of the injury.

These are all good points. Just needs to improve his shooting which he can do with experience and with more help.

Regardless, I thought Ujiri did better. They basically said "Oh look, the Bucks have the best record in the league, lets give their GM, Executive of the Year".
Maybe because they had 40ish wins the previous season and not close to 60? Though agree not crazy to prefer Ujiri

I'd Doncic definitely will be better but arguable now. He can do so much more than Klay but needs to shoot a little better to pass him IMO. That said, if he wasn't a defenses main worry and was the 3rd option maybe he would?

It's not arguable now. Before his recent injury, Klay was the better player. Again, Doncic has upside remaining and can get to that level, but as a rookie he is not at that level.

Yeah, not saying their season is shit. But Ujiri restructured an already winning roster that couldn't get over the hump and brought a title to Toronto. But fully aware that these are regular season awards. Personally, I thought Ujiri had EOY locked up once he got Kawhi, Green and traded for Gasol.

he wasn't their best player. If he was a team's best player they wouldn't even make the playoffs in all liklihood. Hence, the o, o.....

It is not totally insane to argue Klay's impact on the game is overall as impactful as Curry's.

I am not going to argue Klay is better, but this is pretty darn close to a 1A 1B situation.

Great chance Doncic surpasses Klay by the end of next season.

But we don't have to bet on the come here. If Doncic is better next year, it will be fairly easy to rank him higher on the list. His raw stats were great, but he needs to be more efficient and/or more productive to move into the top 20, IMO. There are a great players in the NBA today.

He is close and will probably be a lot higher than that soon. But I want to see him clean some things up before I rank him that high.

But NOW Klay is injured and has to come back from said injury. Doncic is certainly on his way up it would seem. More likely Klay could be going the other way.

Ujiri also didn't have that Lebron guy in the conference who he had never gotten past.,

This is an old argument. But everyone knew that roster was not going to get past Lebron, much less contend with the Warriors and be a legit title contender. In a hypothetical scenario, say Lebron wasn't in Cleveland for the 2017 and 2018 seasons; do you think Toronto wins a title? Much less win the East? With Rozan and Lowry? I sure as hell don't.

They might have won the East.

Think they would have been destroyed in the Finals.

No....but I'm not sure he gets them by Lebron had he stayed.

Outside of Boston, can't think of any other team in the East those years that would've taken out Toronto. But that core would've lost to this year's version of Golden State, despite the injuries from the latter.

I'm willing to bet that Toronto in its current version would be a much more formidable match up against Lebron. Kawhi's not exactly phased by Lebron like Lowry/DeRozan were in previous years.

Maybe we see it next year.

Toronto LA could be a potential Finals matchup

Masai got robbed of the award IMO. He traded the most popular player for a gamble. Also fired the coach of the year. Then traded for Gasol at the deadline.
All respect to the Bucks guy but this was Masai's year to win it
