Pens seem to have this mentality that they want to prove that they are a tough team instead of beating teams with their skill and speed. They got sucked into that style of play against the Flyers last year and they're repeating it against the Bruins. Going out of your way to lay hits on the opponent isn't the path to success for Pittsburgh.

I agree.. In theory I understand what DB is trying to accomplish... wear the other team down...war of attrition.... but speed and constant pressure (moving the puck) is the way the Penguins are built and is how they should accomplish this.

Thanks mall - if I'm reading it right, it looks like Stefan Meyer was selected with that pick.

/Also, another bang-up job by the Flames scouting department, selecting Tim Ranholt (plugger) with pick #39 overall when Patrice Bergeron was still on the board (selected 45th by Boston)

to be fair :noidea: , the Flames ended up acquiring Stefan Meyer so he was probably the player they wanted all along :)

Damn it, that's right (lol)

/Still pissed that Dutter selected Nemisz when Tyler Ennis was still on the board.

Exactly what I said all last game. First game wasn't horrible. Was a strong defensive war until the third period when they were pushing and the D got caught. Game 2 was wholly horrible. I reached full scale cynic. "Oh, I guess hits are worth points now!" Orpik takes elbow, Pens kill penalty, Orpik comes out and chooses to lay a guy out and allow the puck to be moved. The experts kept saying pre-series that the Pens needed to chip, chase, and hit the young D. Which I agree with. But man they're putting themselves out of position for hits. It truly is infuriating to watch because they're not playing the game that best suits them. Not sure where that starts, but I gotta think it's the coach.

I don't know if Bylsma is just providing fodder for the media or has completely lost his marbles:

Apparently Murray was skating as a forward this morning

The Pens were missing three from the morning skate, may have been needed up front on line rushes to get a full line or something. Malkin, Iggy, and Martin were absent.

New Pgh lines: 14-87-9, 24-71-18, 19-16-12, 10-46-27

Cooke and Iggy switch lines.......hmmm.

At least Disco has Iggy at RW, where he should have fucking been since he got here.

Beau Bennett in line-up also

I like both moves, though I would prefer Iggy to be on Sid's wing. But giving the Malkin line a pest/grinder type is a good move. Three trigger men on one line doesn't work.

Adding Bennet is a good move, though. We need another smart guy in the lineup, and Bennet's hockey IQ is very high. He's also kind of a skilled player.

Putting Bennet and Iginla on Sutter's wings could also help improve secondary scoring, which will make us tougher to defend. Let's hope it works.

Vokoun stating the obvious......"Obviously, what we did last game didn’t work. Wasn’t anywhere near close to be working.”

That Vokoun, he's a straight shooter.

Let's hope the Bruins are also straight shooters. Shooting straight into Vokoun's chest, that is.
