That being said, that "lefty specialist" is only one of 4 or 5 at bats Cano will have that day

If Pedroia doesn't play 81 games at Fenway, all his at bats are "neutralized"

He can't have his first 3 at bats at home, and then the opponent will bring in a road ballpark for his at bat in the 8th inning

I have no issue if you don't want Cano starting at 2B in the ASG - he's certainly underperforming

But if the game isn't in Fenway, there are about half a dozen other 2B who are more worthy besides Cano

Cano's OPS against leftieds is so low, that a player of lesser reputation would not be allowed to play against lefties. Cano shouldn't either, but, as a NY star, Giraldi doesn't have the balls to take the bat out of his hands in those situations.

If you think Cano's splits are bad. You should see how Shin-Soo Choo does against lefties.
