Basically, when a game is close in the 8th or 9th and Cano comes up with men on base, he'll be neutralized by the lefty specialist in the opponent's bullpen. This will happen more often than Pedroia will fail in the same situation, when not in Fenway Park.

Cano's OPS against leftieds is so low, that a player of lesser reputation would not be allowed to play against lefties. Cano shouldn't either, but, as a NY star, Giraldi doesn't have the balls to take the bat out of his hands in those situations.
