per Bobby Mac:

Quote:
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, Rolston's cap hit of $5.062 counts even if in minors as per 35+ contract.

Quote:
So no financial benefit to NJD to send him to minors. Only thought for me is that a team will claim him on re-entry at half price.

Quote:
If reclaimed on re-entry, NJD would open up about $2.5M in cap space this year and next, tho on hook for paying half of Rolston's salary.

Quote:
Rolston has a NTC but does not apparently have a No Movement Clause, hence the ability to put him on waivers.

How did Louie Lams get himself into this mess?

I thought I read that the Rags sent a player down to the AHL so his salary didnt count against the cap?

Ah, thanks for the clarification. So the Rags legally circumvented the cap while the Devils played by the rules and still got burned.

Wow. The Devils went from really good to totally fucked in light speed. And who's stupid enough to pick him up at even half the cost? He's got two goals in fifteen games so far.

thats what you get when you sign a guy over 35 to a 4 year contract for over 5 mill per and give him a no trade

Oh yea, I was always against the contract, hell I'm against the guy wearing a Devils jersey at all. I just still think its BS the league finally decided to crack down on the type of stuff after NJ does it.

Lou lams said it was done strictly for financial and cap reasons.because of the over 35 contract that doesn't make allot of sense.unless he is planning on putting him on reentry waivers and hoping for another team taking on half his salary.devils would still be responsible further other half.or he may be using it as a way around his no trade clause.

Shouldn't this say...."If reclaimed on re-entry, NJD would only be $4 million over the cap limit."

Such are the dangers of paying Danius Zubrus $3.4 million/per.
