That's what I've been trying to tell you. If you buy into the "honor and tradition" angle, then Cashman is a moron for spending all that jack. Get a bunch of low risk high reward guys on the cheap and watch the winning streaks.

And I've tried to tell you that ownership is who overrides Cashman on those deals

I think Cashman would make a great small market GM and probably loving this season more than any

Cashman was totally and openly against many of the big contracts they have signed, and I betcha he is skeptical on Cano

Well, it's becoming apparent that Hal is not his father, that the $189 is very real

Russell Martin is nothing special, but when is the last time the Pirates outbid the Yanks in anyone?

The best thing that can happen to the Yankees as far as retaining Cano is concerned is the Dodgers crashing and burning

The worst thing that could possibly happen is the current Dodger roster coming really close to winning a title..... that happens, and they go all in on Cano hoping it'll push them over the hump

They stink up the joint after all the money they spent since the 2012 trade deadline, and I can't picture them doubling down with 200 million more

What is Utley's contract situation? Is it up after this year? I forget.

I can see the Phillies making a push for him if Utley's gone

Blue Jays can't afford anymore mega contracts - they have too many terrible long term commitments currently on the books

Rangers have Kinsler

Indians don't have the money

Dark horse? Depending on whether the owners forget they're joos?

The Mets.

A lot of money is coming off the books for them, and Madoff should be far enough in the rear-view mirror

Yeah, I'm just throwing out the names of teams that have TV revenue windfall coming. I don't really know where Cano will end up. Mariner ownership has the money and they have TV revenue money coming too, but it doesn't kick in until 2015. And, they are Japanese Jhoos.

Seattle actually wouldn't be a bad fit for him

He hits his 30 home runs, but he's not really a power hitter in the "true" sense of the word.... when he's at the top of his game, he's peppering baseballs into the gaps

The adverse effects Safeco would have on him would be much lower than the effects it would have on most people seeking 9 figure contracts

No one is telling us how good dumpster is anymore? How about another Napoli v. Agonz OPS comparison?

not really

they have a higher ERA and WHIP than the Royals

middle of the pack in both categories

"Lord have mercy, half the staffs in the big leagues have insane pitching."
