He'll be drafted somewhere between 12 and 20. But given his injury history already and his dad's, I'd be concerned about his long term viability.

Plus, from what I've seen of him, I'm not all that impressed by him anyway. He gets a lot of hype because he can shoot 3s at his size but I mean, we have 7 fters shooting 3s now anyway. I think he can be a viable player but I don't think he's gonna blow anyone away

How could any team draft him? You cannot trust a basketball player who doesn’t have a nickname when he has the same first name as his last.

His name is still shorter than whatever you want to call Giannis.

Agree with this.

He looks like a taller, less rugged Thon Maker to me.

The talent is there so somebody has to take a shot in case he develops and reaches his upside (which is probably as high as anybody outside the top 5). I just don't think it is all that likely he gets there.

His dad was 180 when he came to the U.S. he gained 20 pounds before being drafted. Only weighed 202. Bol Bol already weighs more after losing 30 pounds, kinda crazy he lost that much. But if he can get back up close to that 235 or so he should be fine.

Manute could only bench 40 pounds 10 times and squat 55 pounds 10 times.

That's not real right?

Bench 40 pounds?

I mean look at him, he was a string bean and his arms were 10 feet long. A very weak midget would be stronger than him...easily

Thon was 7'1, 215 coming out of college. Bol Bol was 7'3, 208 at the combine, but was 230+ before the injury. It will be interesting to see if he can add weight and strength to that frame, as his athleticism and skills are pretty impressive.

It's clear he has serious talent, but injuries in high school and now college are concerning. Add to it, he has lost almost 30 pounds in a year and looked anorexic at 205 lbs at the combine.

Is he worth a 1st round pick? If he slid down to 24 or past, is it just something you have to do and roll the dice? And, FWIW, I think Boston should take him at 20 if he gets there. He would be their 3rd pick of the 1st round and they can afford to gamble.

How does he compare to his father?

That's crazy.

7'8" wingspan

His dad had an insane 8'6" wingspan (5" taller). Tacko, same height as Manute has an 8'0" wingspan

I watched his father play as a long time warrior fan. His father was a great shot blocker but defensively was too slight of build and would get pushed around a lot. The 3 pointers he shot were awesome. The crowd loved it

he wants to be a wing. he seems to be prone to injury, would get swallowed up by current bigs down low (as much as people say that's not a part of the game, he's a stretch 4, but his shot isn't there yet),

I watched his father play when he was with the warriors. He was a great shot blocker but got pushed around alot by stronger centers and forwards.

from what i know of bol bol, he's softer than his dad was, so i don't know where those blocks would come from

He's not softer than his Dad, who could only bench press 40 lbs or whatever lol. He averaged 2.7 per game with Oregon (only 9 games, but included games vs Iowa and Syracuse).

He shot 52% from 3, how is his shot not there yet? Small sample size (9 games before injury), but still. He has range well beyond the college 3, as well as a midrange game as well.

That is why I said he has as much upside as anyone outside the topnfew picks.

Maybe I am projecting too much based on what I saw from his Dad. He seems to move his feet decently well so maybe I am selling him short.

What are we thinking here? Does this guy have Porzingas like upside? Not sure I can sign on to that. It just seems to me that bigs with this skill set are great when they hit, but are a lot more likely to miss.

He was a Top 5 college player pre-season last year, was projected a Top 5 NBA Draftee, and showed a bunch of promise in the games he played. But he has a reputation as being brittle. Still he may go at mid-20's.

If he lasts that long, I hope like hell that the Lakers find a way to get a pick in that range.
