Whoever wants a Bo Nix jersey hit me up. I got you!

I've been thinking about getting my wife one soon. She isn't the biggest Bronco fan but she does love supporting me through my fandom. Nix is the first rookie jersey I have ever boughten. Almost instantly regretted it, but now feeling much better about my purchase.

“Quarterback Bo Nix has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the team’s 38-6 win against the Atlanta Falcons.

“Nix threw four touchdowns and more than 300 yards in the game against the Falcons, completing more than 80% of his passes. This is the first time a rookie has ever done this in NFL history.

“During the game against the Falcons, Nix recorded a 145.0 passer rating, which is the second-highest single-game mark in the team’s history, according to a release from the Denver Broncos.”

So let me get this straight: Rookie of the month for October, breaking franchise rookie records, rookie of the week in week 10 and now AFC offensive player of the week? Seems like our boy is starting to sizzle.

Quite the list of names to join. Every one of them are HOF players (other than Nix so far) and ours just did this his rookie season.

I remember when Jay Cutler came in in 2006, he was the first QB since Marino to throw at least 9tds in his first 5 starts. He threw 2 TDs in each of his first 4 starts. That may have been a record...I think.

So naturally he was the QB i took for my fantasy football team in 2007.

I got his jersey and McDaniel traded him before the month was out.

He should have been traded now looking back. I knew he wasn't the guy and that he was a "jeff george" type in 2007. He had a game and it was terrible. Think it was against the Raiders. He threw is 3rd pick and Shanahan went over to talk to him. The cameras showed it. Cutler was standing there with his hands on his collars...like he typically did. He turned his back on Shanahan and walked away.

Nothing was made of it, but that was when I pretty much knew. I had read an article prior to that and it was about Cutlsr meeting Elway at some restaurant with either his agent or coach.....something like that.

Cutler barely came across interested. Had his hat on backwards in this rather nice restaurant.

Then couple that with what I saw on that sideline with Shanahan and what his career turned out to be, he was a worse version of Jeff George.

THEN, looking back, I think Plummer could have kept going. He had just come off his best season in 2005. Even made the pro bowl.

Shanahans big problem was his inability to hire the right DC. To me, a 3-4 coordinator was the obvious choice and if we remember, Peyton Manning was the BIG ONE that the Broncos couldn't get past. Well, his kryptonite was the 3-4. He hired 5 straight DCs in the 2000s.

He never got it right. Greg Robinson wasn't even that impressive. I was desperately wanting them to hire a 3-4 coordinator, draft a formidable NT (2006 Ngata was there) and allow DJ Williams to play OLB.

Sigh....

Sorry about all of that. Cutler turned out to be a bust. For where he was picked and the Broncos traded up to get him and with his physical talent, he was a bust.

Big difference is Bo Nix seems to be open to learn. That shouting match with Payton and Nix was different than what I saw Cutler do with Shanahan.

Cutler was an arrogant know it all spoiled brat and he came across that way. Nix wants to win. That is seemingly more important than his personal stats and he is fiery. That's what I've been seeing.

I loved the draft pick with Bo ...I get what you are saying . I was happy with Cutler only with Shanahan I do belive it would have worked out oh well water under the bridge ..

I Believe Bo and Payton are going to make NFL record books in crazy and insane ways.

As of now, the defense is looking quite good. I'm just a little cautious about it. Still don't particularly trust VJ. Payton, like Shanahan and offensive minded successful coaches, driven by massive egos typically don't hire ego driven defensive coordinators. Payton had that as a real issue in NO. Same with Shanahan here.

Also, even though QB is really important, if we want a SB, a solid defense is typically just as important.
